The Arrowhead Support Team already has a reputation for giving wholesome responses to players. However, it turns out that the Support Team can also turn up the seriousness. When a Helldivers 2 player asked them for a capeless look, they gave a solid answer as to why a cape would always be necessary.
Some Helldivers Want to Go Capeless
As you know, players love to add a personal twist to their characters. Given that the options in Helldivers 2 are kinda limited, some players expressed a desire for a capeless look, which would separate them from the crowd.
One of them, OHMYGODJC, took it a step further and actually contacted the AH Support Team. This player noted: “Hello, I would to know when it will be possible to take off the cape. I really want my Helldiver to go around capeless. Modders did it, why can’t developers?”.
Now, we’d like to commend the Support Team for taking the time to explain the devs’ logic. They responded: “Hey there, There are no plans to allow players to go around capeless. nor will there ever be. It would simply not be believable in terms of in-game lore that Helldivers would be allowed to take off their capes. It would be like asking the developers of a Batman game to make Batman go around without his mask. Feel free to use mods to go around capeless like an anti-democrat, but do not expect us to ever do that”.
Helldivers 2 Community Praises the Devs for Their Response
The majority of Helldivers 2 players agree that a cape is a must. Sure, it’s fun to stand out, but a Helldiver’s cape is so much more than an accessory. Many players pointed out that going capeless would feel just wrong.
One of them, good_olsmokey, noted: “I want to keep capes and I agree with the devs it doesn’t make sense. It’s right of passage to acquire your cape. But I do wish we had more unique variants. On my personal wishlist is the cape being tucked to one side of backpacks”.
Other players praised the devs for allowing mods. Several Helldivers shared that the AH Support Team told them cosmetic mods were acceptable. IronVines recalled: “I wrote an email to them about using cosmetic mods, they said it’s allowed but they “hold to the right to change that at any given time, so be on the lookout on our social platforms in case anything changes in the future”. I don’t think they would do anything about it”.
Truth be told, we adore our capes. However, different strokes for different folks, so, it’s nice to know that the players have the possibility to alter their look the way they want. It’s only slightly undemocratic. You can always make it up by squishing more bugs for the current Major Order. For Liberty and Super Earth.
