One new trend has been plaguing Helldivers 2 missions recently, the so-called Last Man Standing. Now, some Helldivers 2 players claim that this approach is ruining the game and making it toxic by turning a classic PvE into PvP. Some community members explained exactly why this type of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated.
It’s Undemocratic to Turn a PvE Into PvP
One devoted Helldiver, YourFavoriteFinger, shared how they answered an SOS just so they could be kicked at extraction. This player noted: “Everything goes pretty well, the team is working together, and we call for evac after collecting a healthy collection of samples. When the Pelican lands, one of the other players shoots me dead. No big, accidents happen. I get called back in and get killed again”.
After being called back in again, this player didn’t want to take a risk. They managed to kill the traitor, collect the samples, and leave. Unfortunately, the story didn’t end there. The player recollected: “The traitor then sends an all caps message reading “LAST MAN STANDING EVACS!” And I got kicked. I’m kind of stunned, as no one has mentioned this was the plan, but clearly, the traitor and the host were aware”.
Sometimes, trying out different trends can be fun, but this was just rude. The community stood in support of the unfairly kicked player. Barl3000 noted: “Stuff like this is why I have stopped doing SOS quick-plays and instead just host. It is a much smoother experience”.
PheonixSoot said: “The desperation to turn a PvE into a PvP is too damn high. There are rivers of games better optimized and dedicated to PvP like this. Situations like these might be only because the traitors are too scared to directly mention they intend to have a TK round because what they want is a victim, not a target that can shoot back”.
Helldivers 2 Players Share When the Last Man Standing is Acceptable
Now, we have to acknowledge, and a big part of the community agrees, that this might be a fun concept between friends or at least consenting Helldivers. STARRYSOCK confessed: “Not gonna lie that sounds fun af!… if everyone is onboard”.
Current-Judge shared: “On eradicate missions after we kill everything, me and my buddies don’t care about common samples so we usually just kill each other and the last person alive gets to extract. We lose nothing besides negligible XP and over-capped requisition slips. That being said, I would never do this with randoms”.
Goofing around with friends is one thing, but some players forcefully trying to turn Helldivers 2 from PvE to PvP shouldn’t even be on the table. Sportsmanship is very important in a game like this, and most of the community gets it. So far, we’ve seen so many instances where the community supported the players in need. That’s one trend that we think should stick. We’re all here to spread democracy, don’t be a traitor.
