Are the New Helldivers 2 Ship Modules Worth the Samples?

Amid all the commotion that surrounds Meissa and the current Major Order, we can safely say that today is a great day for the Helldivers 2 community. Not only did the players get a much-needed hotfix, but the developers surprised everyone with a new level of Ship Modules. Now, the Helldivers 2 players are wondering whether the new Ship Modules are worth the price or if they should save their Samples for something better.

On July 4, Baskinator, the Helldivers 2 Community Manager, took to Discord and announced: “Oh, and there are indeed… new Ship Modules available”. We’d also like to take a moment and appreciate that another CM, Twinbeard, made a similar announcement on Reddit. As you probably know by now, recently, the players were annoyed by Arrowhead only posting announcements on Discord. So, this is a good step in the right direction.

Well, as expected, the players were mostly thrilled by these announcements. One player, toshirootomo, noticed: “They added up space for more add-ons, obviously. It seems we are finally gonna get some substantial changes in the next few months”. AndrewTheGunRunner agreed: “That’s what I think. There’s some stuff in the hallway I didn’t really get a chance to see. I assume maybe more beyond along the side of the terminals”.

Some players weren’t truly impressed. Pyrodar shared a huge list of complaints. They mockingly added: “Truly marvelous new developments that no other faction could possibly hope to recreate with their inferior systems of government and innate hatred of freedom”. Total_Cartoonist747 played along: “Truly. Big bro- I mean Super Earth knows what’s best”.

Some Players Don’t Think the New Modules Are Worth Paying For

One player, eydasgdf, pointed out another huge downside of the new Ship Modules. They said: ” I feel they’re a bit too expensive for the benefits, some of them seem quite cool like the mortar one. But some of the others just feel a bit too expensive for the benefit they would provide”.

The same Redditor posted a poll alongside this message and at the time of writing this article, more than 25% of votes claimed the new Modules were a bit overpriced. Another player, mrchess, noted: “200-250 Rares per upgrade when the cap has been 250 for months? Tell me you’ve run out of gameplay ideas without telling me”.

Seems that many players agreed, xOdysseus_x added: “Some of them baffle me as well. Tier 5 and the best they can do is 5% universal cooldown reduction, or targeting that only affects the Mortar? What about the Autocannon and Rocket Sentries? And why is the Eagle cooldown reduction only for times when you resupply it with uses remaining? At the very least, it should be more than 10% if that restriction applies, especially for a tier 5 upgrade”.

We agree that the prices are a bit steep, but honestly, we’ll probably invest in all of them. All new Ship Modules have some attributes that would justify their worth to some Helldivers 2 players. Of course, to each their own, some players don’t use certain features so they don’t require certain modules. We’d say that the devs did a great job when it comes to variety, so everyone can find something that would fit their needs.
