The biggest Helldivers 2 update so far, the Escalation of Freedom, is set to drop on August 6. At the time of writing this article, only a couple of hours are left until the much-expected update. The update will last from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. CET. Helldivers 2 developers surprised the fans by announcing a giveaway that will go hand in hand with the release of Escalation of Freedom.

On July 5, the official Helldivers 2 account on X posted an announcement. It stated: “Join us and PlayStation Access for a sneak peek of Escalation of Freedom. Watch our devs answer questions and get 48 hours early access to the new armor set “TR-40 Golden Eagle”. See you on August 6th from 10am BST/11am CEST and until then, may your day be Super, Citizens”.
So if you join this stream, you’ll get to try out the new TR-40 Golden Eagle armor set for free. Now, we have to mention, lots of players around the world are still locked out and can’t access this stream or the game. The controversy is still very real for lots of players and we can’t wait for the day they’ll get to rejoin us. Hopefully, they’ll join us with a cape that would signify our victory.
Helldivers 2 Players Share Their Expectations for the Update
Escalation of Freedom giveaway aside, the Helldivers 2 players are hyped for the update itself. The community has been abuzz for the last couple of days, as devoted members share how they’ve been preparing for the update and rave about their expectations.
One player, TimTheOriginalLol, raved: “Who is ready for some new content? I hope tomorrow we’ll get something to put all these rec-slips and medals to good use. Hate to see ’em collecting dust in the ship’s treasury like that”.
StretchFantastic shared: “Capped on everything except SC obviously… will there be new ship modules? If there isn’t, this will be a very short-lived expansion experience for me. I will have 250 medals ready to spend, and if it’s your typical Warbond, that’s close to half of what you need to complete it. Maybe 100 medals, so less than half”.
One Redditor reminded to community to manage their expectations. Membership-Bitter stated: “Everyone just needs to temper their expectations for tomorrow. This is the game’s first major update so some bugs and balancing issues should be expected. Let’s not freak out at the developers as long as the game doesn’t get completely broken”.
