If you haven’t played Hades 2 yet, please look away, we don’t want to accidentally spoil it for you. Hades 2 is still in early access, with many more details waiting to be tweaked. Fans have noticed that a certain returning character has gone through a controversial reimagining between Hades and Hades 2. Some players took to Reddit to share their honest opinions.
A Controversial Reimagining Creates Chaos
A dedicated fan, Drakovijas, asked the Hades 2 community what their stance was on the Chaos’ redesign. This fan said: “Chaos in the first appeared otherworldly and I know this is very controversial but I feel the new design makes sense”. They went on to explain that after reuniting Chaos with Nyx at the end of Hades, it made complete sense for Chaos to assume a more human form in the sequel to the game.
Another player, Cynorgi, explained what was appealing to them in Chaos’ new form. They reported: “Male-fronted look vs. female-fronted look. Chaos is above the concept of gender, so they can just do whatever they want and appear however they want.”. Another great point is: “They’re wearing a suit. Not only are suits cool, but suits are obviously centuries ahead of when the game takes place. This is more of my evidence that Chaos is going to be the key to defeating Chronos”.
Neonbeta101 contributed: “Also, regarding Chaos’s presentation I think it’s supposed to be up to player interpretation. Since they’re THE primordial, they don’t really have any sexual dimorphic traits that humans have”. A player named laminierte_gurke confirmed. They said: “Androgynous hot being it is”.
One of the fans, lucifer_says, couldn’t help but notice the similarity between Chaos holding the head of their former self and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. They mused: “I fully expect Master Chaos to break out in the Hamlet monologue at any time. Like, come on they’re holding their own skull, it’s just teasing at this point”. That would be one amazing sight.
Not All Hades 2 Players Were As Pleased
Of course, to each their own, some players weren’t as pleased with this major makeover. Seriyu found the design to be boring. They explained: “I think my main issue is it’s just a bit too human and normal. If they just had Nyx’s face that’d be great, the femininity doesn’t bug me at all, It just seems boring that the one inhuman (adjacent, admittedly) got changed into yet another fairly generic humanoid design”.
A lot of fans who stated they didn’t like the change made that exact point, why make something that could be literally anything into a humanoid? Even though it will be easier to cosplay, we still kind of agree. But, honestly, the new Chaos is anything but boring, with all the perfect little details and nods to the original design. As Chaos is ever-changing, we wonder what their design for Hades 3 will be. Until then, why not explore Hades 2 some more?
