Are you wondering if you’ll be able to rebirth your character in Diablo IV Season 1? Look no further, we’ll answer that question for you.
Starting a new Diablo season is an exciting prospect, and in Diablo 4 the first season is doubly so. It marks the first major milestone for the game, so players are rightfully stoked to begin. But there’s another angle to it, because you’ll need to start afresh which isn’t as inviting to those unfamiliar with the system. Diablo 3 had a seasonal Rebirth mechanic, which was widely popular. But is there such a system in Diablo 4? Let’s find out.
Will there be a Rebirth option in Diablo 4 Season 1?
To put it bluntly, no, there is no Rebirth in Diablo 4. Yet. Many players have voiced their opinion on Blizzard’s decision not to include this mechanic, so it makes sense that they will revisit the topic.
As confirmed in July’s Diablo 4 Dev Update livestream, players will have to create a brand new character to participate in seasonal content. That means that you will have to make a brand new character, even if you plan to play the same class you already played. With the limited roster size we have at our disposal, you can see how something like rebirth would be very convenient.
What is Rebirth?
Rebirth is a mechanic added in Diablo 3 that allowed players to “recreate” their characters for seasonal progression. In essence, your maxed-out character would revert to level 1 and stripped of all gear. That gear would be sent to your mail to save in stashes on the eternal realm, but the characters themselves would be as if brand new.
What this allowed was manyfold. Firstly, it saved some roster space. You didn’t have to go through character creation again (though that was very limited in D3 anyway). And lastly and most importantly, you kept all of your character’s stats over the years. You could see how they developed and how many demons they killed.
Simply put, it was such a convenient way to play seasons that it’s baffling that no such mechanic was ported to Diablo 4. Hopefully, that will get rectified sooner rather than later.
