Would you like to know if you’re able to play Diablo 4 in an offline mode? This guide answers that question and more.
Diablo IV has been released more than a decade after the last game in the mainline series launched, and games have changed between the two dungeon-crawling RPGs. One of the key questions that players have asked about Diablo 4 is if you can play the game offline, just as it was possible in Diablo 2. This guide will help answer that question for players on whether it can be played offline or will be online-only.
Is it Possible to Play Diablo 4 Offline?
Unfortunately, players are not able to play the game offline. Diablo 4 requires a constant internet connection and a Battle.net account at all times in order to access and play the game.
This is not great news for players with a subpar internet connection, but it is not much of a surprise considering the previous entries in the series were also online-only. Diablo 3 and the mobile game Diablo Immortal both require an online connection to play both the games.
Will Diablo 4 Have An Offline Mode?
Diablo 4 does not have an offline ever since it’s launch on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. While the game is tied to online servers just as the previous games were, there is a slight silver lining that the game could be in a playable state without an internet connection sometime in the future.
Diablo 3 originally launched for PC in 2012, and was ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. The Switch version did have an offline mode, and an internet connection was only necessary for a few optional features. Diablo 4 will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch at launch, though an offline mode could be possible if the game were to be ported to Nintendo’s console given the precedent.
