To upgrade gems in Diablo 4, you’ll first need to reach level 20 and complete a quest that requires you to upgrade a Crude Ruby into a Chipped Ruby. Gems can be upgraded in stages, which range from Crude to Royal. The lesser the quality of your gems, the lesser their stat boost when applied to gear, weapons, and jewelry.
