How to Get Your Mount in Diablo 4

Have you seen players riding about and are you wondering how to obtain a mount for yourself in Diablo IV? This guide will explain the whole process.

When you start your journey through Sanctuary, you have likely seen the stables in Kyovashad pretty early on, which implies that you’ll be able to get your hands on a mount and breeze through the main questline.

However, that idea is shot down pretty quickly, because the quest you need to do is a bit further into progression, titled Donan’s Favor. This specific quest essentially walls you from getting and riding horseback at that time, despite the presence of the stables. This is one of the Diablo series puzzles and a great means of transportation. With that being said, how do you get the option to get a mount in Diablo 4?

How Do You Get a Mount in Diablo 4?

Despite the presence of the stables in Diablo 4, you can’t actually ride a mount without completing the Donan’s Favor quest through the main story campaign. However, there is a way to add a mount to your inventory even though you can’t yet ride it.

Getting a mount requires progressing past a certain point in the game. Once you do, you will be able to access your mount and travel faster. This comes later in the game, toward the later end of the campaign’s middle Arc.

For example, you can receive the Spectral Charger as a reward for completing the Gathering Legion World Event in Kor Dragan, just North of Kyovashad. In addition to the mount, you’ll get the Ghastly Reins. This is much easier said than done, though. You must first complete the Kor Dragon Stronghold to get the Spectral Charger Mount.

This Stronghold involves taking out loads of enemies, topped off with a mini-boss. While seasoned players might find completing this task rewarding in and of itself, it doesn’t have too much to offer in the long run, as you won’t be able to ride your Spectral Charger at the end of the day. But it’s worth it for one hell of a warhorse and trusty ol’ steed.

Can You Ride a Mount in Diablo 4?

Because the priority quest, Donan’s Favor, blocks you from accessing the stables, you won’t be able to ride yet. Instead, you’ll need to traverse the landscape on foot or by Waypoints. To be able to mount up, you will need to speak with Donan once you reach the beginning of Arc 4. This quest comes after A Master’s Touch questline.

When you begin this quest, Donan will graciously provide you with your first mount, courtesy of Kyovashad stablemaster. After you speak with the stablemaster, you will be rewarded with the mount and the ability to ride it.

Now that your own a mount, you can equip it with armour and mount trophies, such as the Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy. These armours customize the look, including the saddle, and let you personalize your mounts.
