Need to know how to find and activate the Hall of the Penitent in Diablo 4? No problem. Stick around for a walkthrough with additional tips to help you out along the way.
Introduced in the second season, the powerful Grigoire resides in the Hall of the Penitent. While finding this location isn’t all that difficult, there’s just one requirement you’ll need to meet before you can access it. That said, here’s where to find and what you need to do to activate and enter the Hall of the Penitent in Diablo 4.
Where to Find the Hall of the Penitent in Diablo 4
The Hall of the Penitent can be found between the Dindai Flats and the Onyx Watchtower, though it’s easiest to reach the location by heading east from the former. Inside, you’ll find Grigoire, a powerful endgame boss.
However, there’s a caveat to accessing this boss’ domain: You can only enter if you’re on at least Torment 1 difficulty. Moreover, your character must be at least level 60 or higher. Because the World Tiers act as difficulty levels, it goes without saying that you should prepare to put up a fight before setting foot inside this boss room.
How to Activate Hall of the Penitent in Diablo 4
Once you’ve entered the Hall of the Penitent, you’ll need to defeat a horde of relatively weak enemies inside the main corridor. Take them down and press on. Eventually, you’ll reach a hall with a decorated Light Touched Altar at its entrance. By activating the altar, you can summon Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint. As the boss’ title suggests, you’ll need to exchange the following amount of Living Steel to move forward.

How to Beat Grigoire in Diablo 4
The Galvanic Saint specializes in the element of lightning. This is reflected in each of his attacks. As such, the best way to prepare for this battle is to stock up on plenty of Lightning Resistance potions. You should also aim to equip yourself with resistant gear and gems to minimize any damage taken. Of course, this won’t secure you a win in itself, so you’ll need to know how to counter Grigoire to prevail.
The boss utilizes a variety of both direct and wide-ranging attacks, the most basic of which is a head-on ball of lightning. Apart from this, Grigoire can essentially electrify the floor, turning this battle into a deadly game of The Floor is Lava. He’s also keen on using chain attacks, which can manifest as columns of lightning or several strikes within a certain radius.
Fortunately, you can avoid a few of these masterful moves by positioning yourself behind the boss and firing off your own attacks. While it’s tough to avoid taking damage from the electrified floor, following the path of unaffected tiles will ultimately lead you to safety. In the case that an incoming attack can’t be entirely avoided, resort to lightning protection. By combining offense with defense, you should be able to secure a win.
Stagger Bar
Don’t forget that Bosses now have a new mechanic called the Stagger Bar. Since they’re immune to CC debuffs, a Stagger Bar is added to make this fair. So, each time the Boss would have been Crowd Controlled, the Stagger Bar will fill up.
Once the Bar has been completely filled, the Boss will drop down into a “staggered” state and will be completely incapacitated for a short period, allowing you to attack them with no danger to yourself. So, use this opportunity to go crazy on Grigoire and give it everything you got.
