Cities Skylines 2 is now available to play on PC, lending players everything they need to build a city of their own from the ground up. The new installment introduces a long list of improvements following the previous release, some of which once required mods to achieve. That said, publisher Paradox Interactive welcomes this practice, which allows you to tailor your gameplay experience to your liking. With this in mind, are there mods for Cities Skylines 2? Here’s what we know.
Are There Mods for Cities Skylines 2?
Cities Skylines 2 will have full mod support, though it’s not entirely available following launch. Publisher Paradox Interactive has introduced a designated platform, dubbed Paradox Mods, specifically for players to upload and share their creations for others to access all around the world. While the platform hasn’t launched just yet, the publisher maintains that it’s coming soon.
The new platform has been in the works since development for Cities Skylines 2 began. In a Q&A forum from Paradox, it was stated that the modding platform will boast the same creation process as Steam Workshop, where players shared their work for the previous entry.
While modifications are moving to a new location, it comes without cost to you or contributing creators. Players who create and share features on the platform won’t need to cough up cash to do it, and the platform will not run paid mods. What’s more, those who download won’t need to pay, either. In line with Paradox’s mission statement for the platform, Paradox Mods will offer free creativity for all within the game’s dedicated player base.
Paradox goes on to specify that dependent mods will be fully supported on the developing platform, allowing you to both create and use intertwined features. Moreover, creators will have the ability to display links to their social channels, from X to YouTube. This way, all work will be credited and all users will benefit.
