Inspect animations have had their place in FPS games ever since the spectating feature became the norm. It’s common to see players inspecting their knives or guns to show off to the audience before getting into their next gunfight or after securing the round.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is no exception to this phenomenon, so if you’re interested in knowing how to inspect your weapons, keep on reading.
Inspecting Weapons In Modern Warfare 2
While different FPS games have their own inspect norms, players in Modern Warfare 2 mainly like to inspect their guns during the match’s initial countdown or after securing the final Kill Cam. Particularly in the case of the final KillCam, these players can demonstrate complete dominance over the enemy team and flex their gun’s blueprint/camo. The rarer the mastery camo you have, the better the flex.
Of course, don’t forget that when your operator starts inspecting their gun, they are temporarily disarmed and disengaged from combat. Inspecting out in the open where you are exposed to multiple angles. It’s good to be confident, but don’t go overboard. If you ever find yourself in that situation, remember that you can quickly switch to cancel the animation and put yourself back in action!

How To Inspect Weapons On Playstation
If you’re playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on a Playstation 4 or PlayStation 5, simply hold the left button on the D-Pad to inspect weapons. Make sure you have a gun in hand and not any equipment (e.g., Trophy System) or lethal (e.g., Semtex Grenade).
Also, remember to hold down the button as simply tapping it will cause you to change your gun’s fire mode, such as from automatic to semi-automatic.
How To Inspect Weapons On Xbox
If you enjoy playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, or Xbox Series X, then to inspect your weapon, you need to press and hold the left button on the D-Pad.
Simply pressing the button will not prompt your to operate to inspect, but instead will change the firing mode. Again, ensure you are holding your gun since the game does not support inspecting other equipment.

How To Inspect Weapons On PC
If you’re a PC gamer and play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC with a keyboard, then you can rebind the Inspect prompt to some other key. By default, it is set to the I key and does not require it to be held down for the inspect animation to play out. We recommend keeping it bound to the I key (since it is easier to remember).
