All Call of Duty fans know that the latest installation, Black Ops 6, is coming very soon, and the expectations are flying high. The release is scheduled for October 25, but the Open Beta will start much sooner, on August 30. As that date slowly approaches, fans are getting more and more impatient to finally try out the game.

What to Expect of Black Ops 6 Based on the Period It’s Set In?

The community members were more than eager to share their expectations for the game and clarify some details for their fellow players. For some reason, many future players were convinced that the game would (at least partially) take place in 2003, but as of now, there is no official confirmation.

The recently released playthrough gave the players some info. OkYogurtcloset8120 noted: “This game takes place in 1991. It is currently unconfirmed if it will go past that. That’s ten years after the main events of the Cold War. Adler is not killed by Bell at the end of the last game”.

The aforementioned playthrough featured one big name of the 90’s politics, Bill Clinton, the former POTUS. This gave the Redditors a field day, as they theorized Clinton’s significance in the game. As many players tried to come up with elaborate storylines, Sensitive-Tax2230 offered an alternative. They stated: “Pretty sure it’s only for historical relevance. I highly doubt Treyarch is gonna have some secret agenda or try to paint him as a good guy”.

Call of Duty Fans Share Their General Expectations for Black Ops 6

Other Call of Duty players shared some more generalized expectations for Black Ops 6. Many fans hope for a good campaign. Objective_Love_6843 said: “A fun campaign and multiplayer like Cold War that’s all I am hoping for”. Dozens of players agreed with them.

On the other hand, yawn18, stated: “I don’t care much for campaign. The multiplayer I hope is fun. Some smaller maps seem like they’ll be more chaotic which is great but spawn trapping is a worry. My main hopes are really in the zombies. I’m hoping they truly do capture that BO3 zombies feel with BO4 Easter eggs. Also hoping the story progresses in a fun way”.

Other players, like born_to_be_intj, are excited about the new engine. They noted: “I’m really excited to see what Treyarch/Raven can do in the new engine. I have high hopes for multiplayer and I’m cautiously optimistic about zombies. Cold War Zombies was too casual and guided, but it was fun. Every iteration of Zombies after it has been absolute garbage. Hopefully, Blops 6 is much better”.

At the time of writing this article, only 8 days remain until the launch of the Open Beta. The hype is getting real, and we’re sure you are just as excited as us. We can’t wait to meet Case and see what he has gotten himself into.
