Bayonetta Origins – How to Save

Storybook with Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon title on the cover.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is out today, March 17, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The latest addition to the Bayonetta franchise is unlike any installment we’ve seen yet, reimagining the world of the series within the likeness of a storybook. Much has changed, including objectives and basic controls.

While some players have already started their journey as Cereza during the game’s demo, others are getting used to the mechanics of the new title now that we’ve reached its official release. So, how do you save the progress you’ve made?

Let’s go over the mechanics.

How Do You Save Your Progress in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon?

To save your progress in Bayonetta Origins, you will need to locate and interact with Lanterns in your nearby surroundings. Pressing L on your left bumper will allow you to Rest and save your progress at these specified locations.

Bayonetta Origins does have an autosave feature in addition to manual saving. Keep an eye out for a small feather icon in the bottom right of your screen to indicate that your game’s progress is being saved.

Where Can You Find Lanterns in Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon?

Lanterns are located throughout the in-path world of Bayonetta Origins, so finding them is relatively easy. The first Lantern in the game is located just outside Morgana’s cottage, where you begin your journey as Cereza.

Cereza stands by Lantern location in Avalon Forest.

However, the second Lantern is located a bit further within the forbidden Avalon Forest. This is an excellent gauge for how far apart each save location is stationed within the game, so it’s a good idea to make use of the Lanterns you stumble upon as you venture through the forest.

Does Save Progress Carry Over From the Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon Demo?

Yes, your save progress will carry over to the full game if you downloaded and played through the demo for Bayonetta Origins. Any items and powers you collect will also transfer, so farming as much as possible before accessing the full game is wise.
