Did you come across a peculiar flask on your travels? Read on to find out what is the Iron Flask in Baldur’s Gate 3 and what to do with it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 won the Game of the Year 2023 award and for a reason. The sheer amount of content that game has is staggering. Moreover, everything in the game has been perfectly designed so that your every choice impacts the world around you. For example, there is a quest where even the matter of how you interact with an item in your inventory can have repercussions. Will you listen to the words of advice, or will you let curiosity win? A quest like that is where you obtain the Iron Flask. So, let’s see what the Iron Flask is and what to do with it in Baldur’s Gate 3.

What Is the Iron Flask?

Iron Flask is a quest item in Baldur’s Gate 3, that you can find while doing the Find the Missing Shipment quest. After defeating the Gnolls, and rescuing (or defeating) Rugan and other survivors, you will find a Caravan Strongbox inside the cave. You are instructed not to open it, but to bring it back to the Zentharim Hideout. If you let curiosity take the better of you, you can try to pick its lock. Inside you will find some treasure and, most notably, the Iron Flask.

You will see that it is a magical flask, with some arcane symbols on it. Interacting with it will give you the option to open it, or leave it alone.

What to Do With the Iron Flask in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Now that you have obtained the Iron Flask, what to do with it? Well, since you opened the shipment, better to avoid any Zentharim from now on. If you examine the flask, it will reveal that it is used to contain a creature in it. So, naturally, opening the Flask will free the creature. The creature in question is a Spectator, who is, unsurprisingly, a little irritated by the whole experience and will attack anyone in the vicinity. So open the Iron Flask to initiate a cool fight and get some XP.

But wait, there is a better option. You will notice that the Iron Flask has a Throw option. Throwing it will yield the same result as opening it, just at a safe distance. So, when you are in a tough fight, consider throwing the Flask amidst your enemies. It will summon the Spectator who will attack everyone.
