Not the mention the different gear you can find throughout the game, ranging from mundane to powerful magical items. You can sometimes purchase a magic item from a merchant, but most of the time you have to find them by adventuring and finishing quests. How to find the Giantbreaker crossbow? How to Get the Giantbreaker Crossbow in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Getting the Giantbreaker is easy. You can simply purchase it from Brem, the merchant in the Zentharim Hideout in Act One. It costs 950 gold pieces. It is located in the barn at the back of the Waukeen’s Rest mansion, near Waukeen’s Rest Waypoint. What’s the catch? Well, the crossbow is not available for purchase from the get-go, you have to finish a quest first for it to become available. You have to successfully complete the “Find the Missing Shipment” quest.

“Find the Missing Shipment” Quest

“Find the Missing Shipment” is a quest where you have to help some trapped folks to survive a Gnoll attack. While exploring the Risen Road location, cross the bridge north of the Blighted Village and you will come across a bunch of corpses. Searching them you will find some letters speaking of a valuable shipment, and that will activate the “Find the Missing Shipment” quest.

Continue going northwest until you reach a pack of Gnolls, who are attacking some survivors. Help the survivors against the Gnolls and speak to a man named Rugan. Inquire about the cargo, and you’ll need to pass some Persuasion or Intimidation checks for him to hand it over. He will invite you to their Zentharim hideout at Waukeen’s Rest. 

Now what you should do is take the cargo to the aforementioned hideout. The most important thing here is if you open the Cargo, the Zentharim will know, and will probably attack you. If you do so, you will not be able to purchase the Giantbreaker. Simply take the cargo the to hideout without opening it, you will be instructed to take it afterward to Baldur’s Gate in Act 3, and the Zentharim will look at you more favorably. What that means is that the Giantbreaker crossbow will finally be available for purchase, from Brem, the Zentharim merchant.

What Is Giantbreaker in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Gianbreaker is a magical Heavy Crossbow, with a +1 Enchantment. In addition, it has the following ability:

• Heavy Hitter: Your weapon hits hard enough to send your target Reeling for 2 turns.

Reeling means that the target suffers a -1 penalty to its Attack Rolls.
