Minthara stands with a stern look in Baldur's Gate 3

Wondering if you can recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3? We have your answer here. Stick around for all the details about how to add her to your party now that Patch 5 has been released.

Since its wildly successful launch back in August of 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 has remained one of the most popular and well-received games out now. The fantasy RPG has just received Patch 5, which introduced the challenging Honor Mode along with Legendary Actions for bosses and even more characters to add to your party, regardless of your moral path. One such character is Minthara, who was previously available to recruit alongside Halsin for a short period of time. With the new patch, however, she can now become a permanent member of your party. Here’s how to do it.

Can You Recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3?

With the release of Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3, you can now recruit Minthara as a staple party member. She was previously available to recruit along with Halsin back in September of last year, but this was soon changed with a patch that followed. Now, you won’t need to bring both characters to your camp if you’re looking to add just one to your party. That said, recruiting Minthara isn’t a simple task. To make her a member of your party, you’ll need to follow a strict series of steps. Otherwise, you’ll miss out on the opportunity.

How to Recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3

According to the patch notes released by Larian Studios with Patch 5, Minthara will automatically reappear at Moonrise Towers during Act 2. That is, if she was only knocked out back in Act 1. If you’re unsure how to knock an enemy unconscious without killing them, we have a detailed guide on how to get the job done. Essentially, you’ll just need to make sure you’ve toggled non-lethal attacks on for your party prior to your battle against Minthara.

Apart from meeting this requirement, there are several other conditions that must be satisfied in order to successfully find and recruit Minthara later on, including the following.

  • Minthara must be Temporarily Hostile rather than Permanently Hostile. You can achieve this by committing a crime in front of her as a means to start a fight.
  • She must be knocked out at the Goblin Camp. If you choose to betray her and knock her unconscious during the Grove Raid, this will foil your plans to recruit her later, as she will become Permanently Hostile.
  • Dror Ragzlin must remain both alive and unhostile when you knock Minthara out. This can be tricky since this character is a leader at the Goblin Camp and, if fought, will alert the others. This will also cause Dror to become Permanently Hostile.

With these conditions met, you can move forward with the story as it unfolds into Act 2. When you reach Moonrise Towers, this will trigger a cutscene wherein Minthara is imprisoned by Ketheric Thorm, one of the bosses in this act. You’ll then need to complete Decide Minthara’s Fate, a side quest that allows you to free her from the prison. Upon completion, you can finally speak with her and recruit her into your party.
