Is Alan Wake 2 Digital Only?
Yes, it’s official, Alan Wake 2 will not have a physical copy. This is quite controversial as Remedy Entertainment stated it will be digital only and nothing else, extinguishing any hopes of a future physical release. Some fans are okay with this while others still prefer to own a physical copy of the game. Be it for bragging, collection, security, or various other reasons. But, being digital only has its upsides.

Why Is AW2 Digital Only?
Developers state that digital-only gives them more time to polish the game. “We didn’t want to release something that we weren’t proud of basically, and that we didn’t want players to play. So hopefully this way we can give you a better version of the game,” said Kyle Rowley, the game director. “Like, a significant amount of weeks actually. Because otherwise, the game that goes on the disc, obviously it has to be playable without a patch.” Moreover, digital releases can keep the price lower. Finally, digital-only helps protect against any potential leaks, as physical copies have to be dispatched earlier, to be in the shops on the day of release.
