How to Save in Ad Infinitum? Save Game mechanics explained
Looking to find out how to save your game in Ad Infinitum? No need to stumble in the dark, we’ll explain how it works.
Ad Infinitum is an indie psychological horror game coming from Hekate and published by Nacon. In it, you take on the role of a German soldier consumed by the horrors of World War I, trapped in a nightmarish reality laced with family tragedy and grief. It is a compelling narrative that builds on dread and shocking revelations as the players slowly uncover the mysteries and secrets. However, the save game function leaves something to be desired, so we’ll explain how to save the game in this guide.
Can you create a Save Game in Ad Infinitum?
No, there is no option to create a separate save game in Ad Infinitum. The horror title operates on a checkpoint principle. This means that the game will be saved automatically at certain points based on your story progression. You can then load the game at the start of an “area”, rather than from a specific save game.
Moreover, there is no option to save different playthroughs, as there is only a single rolling save from which you can load. Therefore, choosing to start a New Game, for example, means that it will overwrite any progress that you’ve had up to that point.
How to manually save in Ad Infinitum?
There is no manual save option in Ad Infinitum. You will have to continue from the last checkpoint, no matter where you find yourself in your playthrough. At best, you can look for the spot in the game where you triggered the last checkpoint-save and try to “walk over” it to trigger it again. However, this method doesn’t always seem to work either.
