One Nostalgia-Inducing Feature is Widely Praised by the Diablo 4 Community

Multiplayer games have come a long way from when they first appeared. In the beginning, you could only play with the person next to you, and now you’re able to play with innumerable people from all over the world. But, if you grew up in the ’90s and early 2000s and you were into gaming, chances are that you have played games with friends and family in the famous couch co-op mode. With the advances in technology, multiplayer drifted away from the “all player share one screen” mode to online gaming, where all players use their own computer/console but are connected to others via the internet. Still, some players would like to experience the couch co-op feature with modern games for a little taste of nostalgia, and surprisingly, Blizzard’s Diablo 4 has that exact feature.

Players Truly Appreciate the Couch Co-Op Feature

One player, named J0hnn2049 on Reddit, wrote a wholesome post stating that he truly appreciates the couch co-op feature that Diablo 4 has, allowing him and his SO to experience the Diablo 4 storyline together.

“It’s so rare to still find a game these days where you can just experience a high-quality story campaign together. But here you have Diablo 4, an ongoing online game, and probably an unlikely place someone would look for a couch co-op adventure. But after 100+ hours, I can safely say it’s actually one of the best ones you can find at the moment.”

Note that Diablo had a console couch co-op feature back in Diablo 3, but by all accounts, it was lackluster, as commented by one player: “…we had no idea how much they had improved the couch co-op experience from D3. If you never played D3 in couch co-op, it is a nightmare. Only one person can do their inventory at a time.“

Looks Like Diablo 4 Can Be a Family Game

More and more players added their own experiences, thanking Blizzard and Diablo 4 for allowing them to enjoy gaming with their families. For example, papaz1 said: “To be able to play a game like Diablo 4 on the couch with my son is such a nice experience. He absolutely loves this game and seeing how excited he gets when he from time to time sees another player going “look dad, that is another player” and then always uses the emotes to say “hi” is so fun.”

The number of positive comments is staggering, with statements like “There is not close to enough games with this feature.” or “This is the most fun my wife and I have ever had playing video games together.” and our favorite: “OP just saved my marriage “

It is refreshing to see the community get together to praise a game’s feature. It is a sad fact that player communities get together predominantly for negative reasons and to voice their dissatisfaction. It is beautiful to see that a simple game has helped so many people and allowed them to enjoy the things they love with people they love. Let us ignore the fact that the game itself is a gory dark fantasy hack-and-slash game.
