How to Get and Use LAS-5 Scythe in Helldivers 2

If you got bored of all the bullets and want something more exotic, then energy weapons may be just for you. This article will explain how to get and use LAS-5 Scythe in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 has an arsenal of weapons just waiting for you. From a simple pistol to a mighty Railgun, you can spread Democracy in any way you like. Every cadet starts off with a pistol and an assault rifle, and usually, that is more than enough to get the job done. Moreover, there are Support Weapons you can request, for an additional punch. But, if you want to shake things up a bit, you can switch your assault rifle for an energy weapon. And the first one you can unlock is the LAS-5 Scythe. So, let’s see how to get and use the LAS-5 Scythe in Helldivers 2.

How to Get LAS-5 Scythe

You can get your hands on LAS-5 Scythe the same way you unlock most of the weapons – Warbonds. Specifically, you can find the LAS-5 Scythe on the fifth page of Helldivers Mobilize! Warbond. It costs you 30 Medals to unlock it. Once you unlock it, head on to the Armory and equip it as your Primary weapon.

How to Use the LAS-5 Scythe in Helldivers 2

LAS-5 Scythe is the first energy weapon you can unlock in Helldivers 2. Energy weapons behave a little differently than their bulled-based counterparts. LAS-5 Scythe does not shoot projectiles, it produces a beam of energy that deals continuous damage to everything it touches.

In other words, hold down the Fire button to produce a beam that will deal damage to everything it comes into contact with. The longer the contact, the greater the damage. The beam itself is quite accurate and has a long range. It is also a “Heat” weapon, meaning that it does not spend ammo. The longer you fire it, the more heat it will generate. When you stop firing, it begins to cool down. If you hold the Fire button for too long, the gun will overheat, and you’ll have to replace its magazine. LAS-5 Scythe comes with 6 total magazines, so the odds of you using them all up are pretty slim. This is a great weapon if you are having trouble with supplies. Moreover, the community states that it is way more effective against Automatons than it is against Terminids.

The downside is that it has no stopping power, ie, its Stun Time is zero. That means that hits with a LAS-5 Scythe do not stun or even slow down their target, unlike the regular, ballistic weapons. So it is not that great when dealing with swarms of enemies.

All in all, a pretty good weapon you should have in your arsenal. For more Helldivers 2 articles, take a look at Can you Play Helldivers 2 in Offline Mode, How to Emote, and Helldivers 2 Patch Notes.
