Valorant is one of the top competitive online FPS around. Riot Games’ mix of MOBA-like agents with different abilities, and gameplay akin to Counter-Strike grabbed millions of players worldwide. Is Valorant on Xbox?
No, currently you cannot play Valorant on Xbox, neither Xbox One nor the Xbox Series X|S. But things might change sooner rather than later. That’s because Valorant has been added to the Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, in 2022 there were job postings for Senior Game Designer, Console – Valorant. There was also a leaked image confirming that the developers added icons to the game for Xbox and PlayStation platforms. This means that Riot Games might intend to bring a console version of Valorant, which is good news for Xbox players.
Is Valorant going to be released on Xbox?
At the time of writing this article, there is no official statement from Riot Games on this subject. Or any announcement for the potential release date. But, Valorant’s lead designer Trevor Romleski stated Riot was “open to exploring new opportunities for other platforms.” In June 2020, Felipe Romero, principal engineer, told Eurogamer that Riot believes “getting Valorant running at 120Hz on next-gen consoles is an achievable goal.”
Executive Producer, Anna Donlon, stated on June 4, 2021, that they are currently “prototyping a VALORANT console port…There’s a way to play this game and there’s a way to experience this game that we’re not entirely sure translates completely to console.”
Hopefully taking into account the partnership with Microsoft for the Xbox Game Pass, there is reason to be optimistic.
Is Valorant playable on other consoles?
No, sadly for the owners of next-gen consoles like Nintendo Switch, PS5, or PS4, Valorant is not playable on any of these consoles at this time. With that being said, and everything we know about Xbox’s potential release there might be hope yet. We have to keep in mind that Valorant is still growing as a game and a community. The console player base would be a welcome addition to this awesome game.
