How To Change Primary Residence in Star Citizen

How To Change Primary Residence in Star Citizen

Even in the alpha state of Star Citizen, I’ve found numerous things to do. From being a space pilot exploring space and battling pirates, to customizing my character and exploring the various space stations. It all started with choosing my primary residence.

But as I played more, I began questioning my initial choice. This led me to wondering if I could move my primary residence in Star Citizen. Fortunately, the answer is yes!

How To Switch Your Primary Residence in Star Citizen

Changing your primary residence will switch where you spawn. This is particularly helpful when you die so you can return to where you were. It also avoids the need to reset your character. However, it isn’t as simple as it would seem to switch your primary residence in Star Citizen. But here is how to do just that.

  • Go to your spaceport and exit your spaceship into the hangar.
  • Locate a medical clinic (Space Station) or hospital (Planet).
  • Find the insurance booth inside.
  • Go to the Regeneration Kiosk.
  • Select the Change Your Preferred Regen Location?
  • Go to Primary Residence Facility.
  • Select Reset Location.
  • Select your preferred primary residence.

This is a simple way to change your primary residence, and can be done multiple times. Feel free to move around until you find the perfect spot, or just be a space nomad and keep your primary residence mobile and enjoy the beautiful world of Star Citizen.

How To Choose Your Primary Residence in Star Citizen

You can select a few different options for your primary residence in Star Citizen. Any location that has a space port allows you to switch it to your primary residence. This includes planets and spaceports. That said, I recommend choosing your primary residence in a location where you explore the most and spend a majority of your time. Feel free to swap out your primary residence as you explore the vast universe of Star Citizen.
