Is Redfall on Switch?

Arkane has dived into co-op multiplayer action with their new release Redfall, which is different from the norm. With the Microsoft and Bethesda acquisition going on, it’s only natural for Redfall to only release for specific consoles, but for owners of the Nintendo Switch, they are wondering if Redfall is coming.

Redfall – Will it release on Nintendo Switch?

No, Redfall is not releasing on the Nintendo Switch. Redfall is not even releasing on PlayStation consoles, the PS4/5, and there has been no word of it being so.

There are many reasons why Redfall is not coming to the Switch. The main reason is due to the always online element. The Switch being a portable console; you need somewhere with an extremely stable online connection wherever you go. You cannot move from coffee shop to coffee shop and continue playing. The second you lose connection, you’ll get booted from the game. And let’s be honest, the Switch’s online capabilities are lackluster at best.

The second reason is that the minimum specs are pretty high. I know friends who cannot play this even on low settings and low resolution because it runs horribly on their potato of a machine. I am on a high-end machine wielding a 4090, and I get frame drops more often than not. The Switch would really struggle handling Redfall. It was not developed with low-end specced machines in mind.

And lastly, due to PlayStation not getting a release of Redfall, sadly, this means the Switch wouldn’t even get looked at. Honestly, the Nintendo Switch is perfect for co-op games, and since split-screen couch co-op, you’ll be able to invite friends around and revel in the atmosphere of playing a game together. But alas, it’s a dream that won’t come true, and that makes me sad.
