The easy workaround is to plug the PS4 into the back of a Xbox One S, works for upscaling 4K and HDR for all PS4 models!
I hadn't even thought about my AV receiver. So not only have I wasted £800 on a TV I only bought last year but also the £600 I spent on the AV receiver last year too :-( just my luck!
Does your TV need to be 4K to benefit from HDR? I have a LED TV with the color enhancements by Samsung which is supposed to enable deeper blacks or whatever.

Optical out or HDMI Arc out of your TV into your audio unit.
Why on earth to people insist on daisy chaining their devices with a spaghetti bowl of cables, meaning you have to change audio sources everytime you change between your devices is beyond me.
