Phantasy Star Online 2 in the West Still Delayed but Not Dead

I would've payed upfront to get PSO2 to the West by now. I paid $50 for my GC copy of PSO, and I've logged 1.5k hours over the last decade on the various versions. It's a shame, I was super hyped for the sequel but now I've just accepted it won't come here.

I've read plenty of articles and one of them was quite sad. It was about this PSO2 player who played on Japanese servers put over 300hrs into the game and put $1500 USD into it. Sega found out he was not Japanese and he was permabanned from the game. If they weren't racist they would of let him continue to play the game with the Japanese players and players of other races.

if they found that he lied about his info in there, that might be why, other than that no, they dont really care and if they know youre playing their game, however they will refuse any form of customer service. thank god you can pay through PSO2es app so you dont have to share false info to pay for anything.

First of all, Yakuza Ishin and restoration are the same game. Ishin means restoration in Japanese. Second of all they are not racists and i have no idea where you came up with that ridiculous notion. Could it be that they don't feel it will be worth it to spend the money to translate the game into English because they feel they wont sell many copies. Note the lack of english voice acting because they didn't want to spend the money for actors when the amount of copies sole in the west wasnt worth it. PS i would love the rest of the Yakuza games to come out in the west.

Restoration was supposed to be a HD re-release of Yakuza 1 and 2. I came up with the notion considering SEGA has a big fanbase here in the US for PSO and a Moderately sized one for Yakuza. They have released PSO2 in every country but the US, and they refuse to release it here and provide no reason why. Their supposed reason why they won't bring Yakuza here is because they made that terrible Dead Rising game called Yakuza Dead Souls that no one wanted to buy and released it here.

Since it is not a main game it didn't really sell here. Yakuza 3 sold 176K copies here. Yakuza 4 sold 120.9k copies here. They could at least put it up on the PSN store and people could buy it and not have to pay the price of manufacturing discs. There is money to be made, they chose not to.

The amount of money i would have spent on this game had it come out even a year ago....sheww. The size of the ball Sega dropped with this one is damn near impressive. Its amazing to me these Japanese companies cant get their acts together. Capcom all they had to do was give us a new megaman and a resident evil that went back to survival horror. SquareEnix i mean they FINALLY announced KH3 but the length of the wait is pathetic and for the love of god just remake FF7 already and sell the insane amount of copies people want to buy. All they give a crap about is Sonic, remember the good old times when I used to visit the US blog quite alot due to good announcements and blogs, now it's just Sonic. PSO2 has undergone 21 content updates and has grown since in the past two years .
It feels like it's just too late at some point

Lack of hype and momentum do kill Mmos . DO you remember the frenzy surrounding Tera Online and Blade and Soul ?

And yet after so long to release the game , Tera released in the west with a whimper , and switched to f2p . ANd to this day there still isnt a Blade and Soul in sight .

I wouldnt say it flopped , but the interest definitively dwindled down when it launched so late in the west . And it very quickly went from sub based to f2p .... never a great sign when it happens so soon

A while ago, I too emailed Sega of America about PSO2 and they told me the same thing: It's still coming to the west. That was all, no other reason.

Why so many delays? Why bother reminding us that it's coming out with no proof or release date? All that needs to be done is properly translating everything. I really can't live on the fan translations anymore as many of the text is still in japanese. For those of you that don't know, PSO2/Sega was recently hacked (back in june-july IIRC). This locked out a most western players from playing the game.
