NTSC-J And NTSC-U PSone Classics Confirmed For SCEE

SCEE:Hello everyone,
I am very pleased to confirm that US and Japanese PSone emulations are being prepared for release on the SCEE PlayStation Stores.
While I cannot yet confirm dates or any of the titles in process at this time, there are a few that are already in process and you will start to see them publishing in the future.
What does this mean for you, the consumers?
Here are the key points:
Publishers who own the rights to release PSone titles that were previously only available in the US and/or Japan will now be able to apply to have them released on the SCEE PlayStation Stores (providing they are rated by the appropriate ratings boards for each territory).

If this means I can play my JP Dragon Ball games in particular DBZ Legends on my US PS3 then I am one happy camper.

EDIT: They say it has nothing to do with reading actual disc...

/cry

If you buy JP Dragon Ball games from the store you can!

Actually you already can play us/jp ps1 games on dis or on HDD.

I also have a US account with PS+(trough wb) and I could play the US medieval.

Which means that technically nothing will be prepared . Only legal bs will be prepared

Tell me about it

Sometimes I think they don't give a crap about us

How long have we been waiting for Spyro as a PS1 classic

xAlmostPro5082d ago

Things are easier said than done.

More comes into play than just sony adding the game to the store.. there's new ip's to cater for, which need advertising etc.

There's game rights, royalties etc.

Add to that, there is thousands of ps1 games for them to go through and sort all this out for.

Just saying

I'd understand if it was like a year...maybe two years after the PS3 launched but come on it's been over 4 years now and the US got theres like a year after the PS3 launced......to be honest they have more classics then us.

I understand all this stuff that goes on behind closed doors but as I've said it's been over four years we shouldn't be waiting any longer, by the time all the PS1 classics come out for us the PS4 will be announced.

Just to give you a sense of how hard it is...
Every since PS1 was released, many many many scenes has been working on PS1 emulators for more than 10 years.

and Scene Emulators works like shit- only 10 percent of the games work. and not all of them work perfectly.

Sony has made a working emulator. imagine it would been extremely difficult and took them a while to get it right.

D:2
D:3
D: Rumble Arena
D: Digital Card Battle

SuperKing5082d ago

I got Digimon world 3, damn that was a great game.

Undeadwolfy5081d ago

The first one and the second one are even better in my opinion. They are both different gameplay wise. Card Battle was awesome as well. I highly recommend you pick those games up if you can.

So does this mean we'll get the first Parasite Eve?!!!!

hadouken0075082d ago

I can finally play my jp import games again.

If they put the games on the store you have to rebuy them the physical discs don't work.

Incredibly Ambitious PSP Games That Pushed Handheld Gaming

The PSP was ambition personified, so much so that it’s kinda wild to look back and realise what exactly Sony cooked up in 2004.

I still play my PSP. Sadly the UMD drive has stopped working, but I modded it to still be able to play my games (and then some). Such a great little portable.

Project: Horned Owl Review

From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.
