PlayStation Move Review - PlayStation LifeStyle

Whether you’re interested in motion controls on the PS3 or not, the PlayStation Move is here to stay. It’s going to become a staple addition to the PlayStation 3’s line-up and both casual and hardcore gamers are going to be better off because of it. Though, casuals are sure to benefit the most from the initial software offering, Sony has promised again and again that the hardcore will not be left out. With games like SOCOM 4 and Killzone 3 supporting it, PSLS is doubting their commitment to backing up those claims. When you finally do pick up a PlayStation Move you’ll realize a few things: this isn’t just another motion controller, it’s precision is unmatched, it’s going to open up a host of new game experiences, and it’s going to revolutionize the PlayStation 3 experience moving forward.

can't wait to pick up my 2 move controllers first day!!

doctorstrange4987d ago

I'm hoping to get 2 Moves and a navigation controller

Lifewish4987d ago

i decided against the navigation controller.. used that money towards a game purchase.

plstcsldgr4987d ago

from what I've been hearing you can use the Ds3 as a nav controller might be a little weird but its a nice alternative.

nycredude4987d ago

Nav is only $29.99. Can't get a new game for that unless you settle for an older game.

I'm getting the bundle and another controller and a nav for the shooters. I already have an eye but the bundle pretty much gives the eye for $10 so I'll put it ebay for $20 or just use it for my other ps3.

I hope this gets my wife into gaming.

rockleex4987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

It helped make the Dualshock 1 a standard controller on the PS1.

Hopefully it will do the same with PS Move!

I just hope that once the PS3 drops to $199, Sony will bundle the PS Move and Eye in EVERY PS3 just like they did with the Dualshock 1 for PS1.

That will help cement the Move as another standard controller for Playstation.

Lifewish4987d ago

@nycredude

Yea i know its only 30 bucks but i can use that 30 bucks towards the purchase of a new game.

MisterAV4987d ago

it's useless now, what launch game use it? I can't think of anyone...

The_Count4987d ago

I'm gonna pick up the Logitech GT Driving Force wheel. Move looks great but it's one or the other for me. GT5 has been a big deciding factor and I figure that come Christmas they'll be more games that are move compatible including LBP2. Anyway I'm off to count some bats.

Ah Ah Ah

Soldierone4987d ago

@ The Count
The racing Wheel is still probably the best thing invented, makes racers so awesome. People just naturally suck at using them at first haha. Im horrible, need to practice again for GT5!

truth.

Once you go Move you stop playing with your Wii

Day 1 for me and my family
Can we PLEASE stop the its just WiiHD comments now? Especially with this video.

Comparison between Wiimote and Move.....Move OWNS the Wiimote....next generation motion control is here.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

The Move is the ONLY controller that can do 1to1 in 3D space...Kinect, Wiimotion plus.....they.... http://www.youtube.com/watc...

I don't understand why it took this long for the majority to see how much BETTER Move is. The day they showed the 1st tech demos at E3 2009, I saw...we all saw how accurate and precise the tech is.

Remember this?

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

cliffbo4987d ago

agreed. it's almost as if Sony have bludgeoned them into admitting the truth

Lifewish4987d ago

i actually sold my Wii and used the money from it to pre-order two move motion controllers and Start the Party

darthv724987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

I believe both will play a more important role in the next gen consoles. Much like the wii-mote has been the main control interface from day 1.

Even though MS and sony are bringing theirs out after the fact, it does not mean they wont get support they deserve. I do not think Sony and MS will treat these as afterthoughts and they will ultimately become somewhat of the standard if not THE standard control interfaces for the next gen.

Sorry if I mentioned kinect in this move related post. I am referring to the idea of motion controlled gaming in general. Move is more than the wii-HD some would proclaim it to be just as kinect is more than the eyetoy some would proclaim it to be as well.

Both offer different approaches on the same idea. That is...put the wii in its place and show how motion can be done by the big boys.

Tommykrem4987d ago

We'll 9's and 8's for Move it would seem.
Satisfying to say the least.

I wish the games had received a little better though, but aside from Eyepet and Sports Champions there weren't really a lot of potential in the release titles anyway. Kung-fu rider? The Shoot?
Wha?

jack_burt0n4987d ago

tumble got all 8+ watch the gametrailers review.

cliffbo4987d ago

yeah, and there is a lot more to the game than you would think. i urge people to watch that review

Tommykrem4987d ago (Edited 4987d ago )

Seen it, but I've also read the IGN one. 3.5

Lifewish4987d ago

@Tommykrem,

I would read a few more reviews before just going with the IGN one..

ftwrthtx4987d ago

I can't wait to try it out for myself

Sony makes its ‘Move’ into PS3 motion control

Sony’s answer to wireless motion control offers three advantages over Nintendo’s technology: the movements are a lot more precise; because it’s a camera-based system, many games can put you in the game (such as seeing yourself on the screen in “Start the Party” and “EyePet”); and the PS3 offers high-definition graphics for a more photorealistic experience over the Wii’s standard-definition visuals.

Wow this game looks interesting, I cant see it working co-op style as a friend helping would probably lead to an argument lol. Its only $10 so i will give it a try.

Rip-Ridah4965d ago

Well worth the price of admission. There is a demo in the PS Store if you'd like to try before you buy.

Lovable4964d ago

This game is the reason to buy a Move. It's absolutely addicting. Like I said before, it's simple, yet so good.

PirateThom4964d ago

Tried the demo, while I doubt I'd buy the game, this may be the best "demo" for Move, accuracy, depth... just insane.

despair4964d ago

yea the guy who reviewed it is an idiot.

Cant spell Ignorance without IGN.

kaveti66164964d ago

I don't follow. If everyone else likes something and IGN doesn't, that makes IGN ignorant?

Do you guys think before you post over-used slogans and mantras like sheep?

coolbeans4964d ago

That's one of the biggest problems with the internet as a whole. Your reasoning is sound, and hopefully others will at least contemplate what you've said. (bubbles :D)

callahan094964d ago (Edited 4964d ago )

Yes, Kaveti, it does. This game is excellent. IGN giving it a 3.5 is disingenuous to their readers and unfair to the developers who poured their lives into making this game for however long. It has an impeccable presentation with crisp, pretty graphics, good music, a very soothing voice to the actress narrating everything, lots of variety in the missions, fun multiplayer, and incredibly accurate and impressive controls that do an excellent job of showing how the Move is a unique control scheme: this game couldn't be done on the Wii or Kinect, it requires the precision of the pointing device, which Kinect lacks, and the 3D depth tracking that the Wii lacks. It's a brilliant and inexpensive showcase for Move offering compelling puzzle experiences.

A 3.5 out of 10 is just simply the WRONG score. No opinion about it. It completely fails to acknowledge the factual features present in the game, from design to presentation to control and implementation of those schemes. It IS a good game. And the fact that IGN is the only reviewer that didn't like it is more evidence to the fact that the game itself is good, well-made, deserving of praise, and that IGN failed to see the title for what it is and tore it down for lack of that understanding.

foss34964d ago

IGN used to be good... until years ago when they started putting ads everywhere they went to the shitter.

They were one of the first sites that redirected you to a full page ad before sending you to your link. I remember seeing those and writing an email to IGN telling them I would no longer use their site because of all the spam.

Probably because they didn't get the exclusive first review.

IGN isn't relevant anymore.

Movemodo review: Racket Sports / Racquet Sports (PS3 / Move)

Quoting Movemodo's James Newton:

"With other Move titles making strides in gaming control, Racket Sports feels like a dinosaur; the motion-sensing is unreliable and could have been more accurately and enjoyably served by a button press, a disaster for any new motion control title. Racket Sports is precisely the kind of title we don’t want to see on Move. Save your money for the promising-looking Virtua Tennis 4."
