JPS Writes: "...Overall, it's very hard to justify a PSP Go purchase right now. It's $249.99 price tag, coupled with it's inability to play or even transfer UMDs makes it mainly for tech-heads and those who don't already own a PSP. It's expensive, it renders all the current games useless, and despite it's sleek look, it's just not practical. For those looking to get their first PSP, the Go might be cool, for anyone with a current slim, best hold onto it for a little while longer, at least until Sony offers some way to transfer your current games or drops the price of the Go."
Sometimes newer isn't better when it comes to hardware. Here are five subpar console redesigns that chopped a feature too many.
I would also add the Gameboy Micro. The Gameboy Advance SP was already a little bit too small, and the Micro which was made even smaller, was impossible to play for more than 5 minutes without destroying your hands.
Note to author. Make the section titles BIGGER than the text for the body of each section. It reads better.

I got one at launch and still have it.
Great system and super portable.
Not so comfortable for big hands playing for long sessions though.
Have good memories of Peace Walker on the Go, pun intended.
I believe there is some prototype of a hand held console with dedicated GPU that can run modern AAA games too.
PSP has such great games, it's such a shame Vita didn't do as well, I still use mine I bought in 2014. I still would love an upgraded handheld if just for ports, though.
I've enjoyed my PSP a lot, too bad they're not making handhelds anymore.
That time when Skype was available on PSP was awesome.
Ed writes: Yesterday, Microsoft revealed the brand new, disc drive less Xbox One S All Digital Edition console to the... confusion of a lot gamers.
it's more prevalent now, so I don't think it's the same thing. I've been all digital since 2014, so if the next gen of consoles has a discless SKU as well as one for physical media, I would likely get the discless one.
Sony at least had the decency to put in 16GB storage in the PSP Go which was more space than what other models with disc drives had out of the box to compensate for the lack of physical media.
Microsoft didn’t even bother putting in a 4TB HDD into this thing to make it more enticing over a standard model. This whole things reeks of halfassed decisions just to see how the market reacts to an all digital device.
Its far more relevant now and could EASILY be a popular choice...
but just not at that price
Look's Sweet might have to buy one.
I love not having umds anymore. I just hope they bring phantasy star to the store soon.
...and am disappointed they did not release more on the PS Store for the release of the PSP Go in New Zealand. Even more disappointed in the price of the games for download. For example, in NZ on-line stores are already selling GT Mobile for $14 less than what you can get it for on-line!?! They also offer exclusive giveaways when you buy it on UMD!
There is no way Sony will keep up with retailers re: pricing so basically, if you have a PSP Go you are being forced to pay more for less.
My prediction is that the PSP Go will fail unless Sony addresses both the price of the Go and the games you can download for it. Oh yes, don't position the Go next to existing PSPs in retail as the original PSPs still look damned good because of the bigger screen.
It's expensive, games cost a lot more (to download) AND NO UMD support. But for some DAMN reason, the moment I asked the shop owner to let me sample it, I JUST WANT TO FRICKEN BUY THE DAMN THING, IT LOOKS SO SLICK AND SWEET!
useless effing reviewers that only state the obvious. I KNOW the price, I KNOW it doesn't have a UMD drive. The first I'm not worried about, the second I'm happy about. CAN YOU TELL ME SOMETHING USEFUL? Anyone could have written this review just by compiling all the news they read online.
