There's always something positive when it comes to PS5 Pro.
PS5 Pro is the console for the most cleanest, crispiest game. If you can afford it, go for it. It's cheaper than Xbox Series X right now.

Obscure_Observer1d 18h ago

Even the Pro couldn´t even mach Series X´s performance for this game!

Xbox Series X owners will get smoothest experience while Pro owners will get the crispiest image.

Doom games is about *performance*! So Xbox Series X owners will most definitely get the best console experience out of Doom: The Dark Ages.

StormSnooper1d 8h ago (Edited 1d 8h ago )

Sorry but you’re too cringe. Try to tone it down a little.

PS5 Pro “couldn’t even match X’s performance”?

Yeah because X is even relatively as powerful as the Pro, right?, and this has nothing to do with MS buying the studio that made the game. I mean who do you think is fooled by you?

Bathyj1d 7h ago

Oh Obscure. You poor confused cringey soul.
Your heroes are dead and you don't know what to cheer for.

Xbox the console is over. I thought you were pom pomming for Xbox the publisher now. That means they need to deliver at a higher quality then they are used to. PlayStation owners expect the highest bar. They don't except less even from their own studios. It gets called out.

Your not competing with PlayStation now. I know Phil said that years ago but heres a shock. Phil lies. They were competing. Just not well. Your competing now with EA Ubisoft Capcom Fromsoft and every other dev on PlayStation. If the Pro version has some hiccups that's developers fault. Not console so you can drop the unfounded Xbox is superior attitude you've always had. When you know that's false now. . They need to lift their game if they're too swim in these waters. You're not making gamepass filler now. You need to sell.

Tacoboto1d 7h ago

If you have a Pro, you damn better have a VRR display where that won't mean anything.

And you'll play Xbox's other games in better quality too.

Doom games are about kicking ass, which Xbox is doing to itself

Reaper22_1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

I'm not surprised. Series x is still a beast.

PanicMechanic1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

“I'm not surprised. Series x is still a beast.”

The Ps5 pro is actually a beast in console terms. The series s/x hardware and standard ps5 hardware is a fat joke. Lmao. I can’t take you console fanboys seriously when you speak about your hardware like that. Your CPU is a little water pistol. GPU is WEAK in 2025. Hilariously weak.

Babadook71d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

Microsoft deliberately held the PS5 (and Pro) down a bit to help series X out. It’s something they will need to reevaluate if they don’t want to become a 2nd rate publisher the way they were a 2nd rate console maker.

Exvalos17h ago

That not the pros fault, bethesda need to patch it.

D2niceforu1h ago

Everyone on this thread calling Obscure cringe is even more cringe lol.

Series X delivers. But thinking MS intentionally brought performance down on purpose for PS5/Pro is just hilarious. The game is gonna play fine on either console.

The functional spec disparity between the PS 5 Pro and the base PS5 [and even the Xbox series X] isn’t that high.

jznrpg1d 8h ago

It’s high enough to make a big difference if used properly.

hiawa231d 6h ago

I have both consoles but may opt for the Series X Gamepass version.

They say xbox is the best box lol

Deathdeliverer1d 7h ago

I mean… it’s obvious. Every version seems to have something wrong with it BUT the Series X version. BASE PS5 runs better than series X on 80% or more games now it runs less locked than series S???. Digital Foundry says this is the one of the WORST PSPro versions they’ve seen. It doesn’t make sense to them but it’s obvious. This is clearly on purpose. A game made by a Microsoft internal studio? I could understand to an extent. ID? Really? All these PlayStation titles before the purchase and now….. gotcha. I’d hate to see how gimped Starfield will be.

MDTunkown1d 2h ago

I remember how MS didn’t released psychonauts 2 on ps5

crazyCoconuts16h ago

Whether it was being lazy or intentional, I can't imagine this being a long term issue without having exclusives anymore. There won't be a console to protect next generation.

Doom: The Dark Ages Disc Is Pretty Much Useless Because You'll Need An Internet Connection Anyway

People who already have their hands on physical copies of Doom: The Dark Ages are warning that the full game isn't actually on the disc.

Profchaos1d 8h ago

There's zero reason why this game couldn't be on disc it was a strategic move to not allow the game to be played after the servers go down

Tacoboto1d 7h ago

Same situation with AC Shadows this year, Hogwarts Legacy a couple years ago; PS Collector's Editions likely won't include a disc ever again; Xbox Game Studios definitely won't release a full disc ever again
PS5 Slim + Pro disc drives require online activation and so does the Series X

It's a shame. I think I'm done buying physical. It's an extra expense for an already-expensive PS5 Pro I want before DS2 and GoY, and they'll probably kill off those activation servers way before the store in the future.

Profchaos1d 4h ago

It's just sad and annoying even switch 2 is failing in physical.
Sad future where kids are unwrapping digital codes on Christmas morning but it's a reality we seem to be driving towards

GamingSinceForever1d 4h ago

I seriously doubt that kids are going to be upset after unwrapping digital codes for a game they wanted. 😂

Besides the digital age is their era not ours.

Profchaos1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

I don't know I mean I give switch games now and they get hyped but if it's a game that just appears on their home screen after getting a receipt there's just not much excitement.

I do get what you're saying though and I'm probably just a. Old man yelling at a cloud but I don't know it's also what I see lately along with my own experiences which are redundant definitely

CrimsonWing6920h ago

Kids do not give a flying f*ck about all digital. They’re all into Fortnite, Roblox, streaming movies and music. The only people upset about this are console gamers that are from a specific time.

Hell, I used to be the same, but digital is just way more convenient and I’m running out of space for all this sh*t.

MetroidFREAK211d 7h ago

Yeah, Microsoft could've used two discs for the Xbox version and a proper PS5 disc for the game. However, they hate physical media now so the game is a skip. Even though I really love Doom

neutralgamer19921d 7h ago

It's really sad since Phil was talking about preserving the games

Tacoboto1d 7h ago

If the servers *do* stay up though?

Xbox is the only modern console platform where discs from the 2001-era console still do work today. It's the only advantage Xbox has left

-Foxtrot1d 4h ago

Phil Spencer has this habit of saying something (and making a big deal of it) then his actions show him doing the opposite

Tacoboto1d 3h ago

"his actions show him doing the opposite"

By supporting games from 2001 in 2025? What other platform does that?

Terry_B11h ago

Believing in something from Phil Spencer or Microsoft is not smart.

"By supporting games from 2001 in 2025? What other platform does that?"

Playstation games you can load and play without internet at least can you say the same about Xbox? NOPE

Hedstrom1d 6h ago

Kinda sad. For most people in the west it doesnt mather. But in other parts of the world the physical releases are crucial to have gaming in that Region of the world

jznrpg9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I don’t buy digital and I’m in the west.. It’s not about internet connection. It’s about owning what I buy

-Foxtrot1d 4h ago

All it does is make me less likely to get it at launch, just like Indiana Jones. I’ll pick it up when it’s far cheaper. I still haven’t even bought the Oblivion Remaster yet.

At the minute I still have a lot to play so it’s not like I don’t have anything else to play in the meantime.

It just annoys me that they either could fit it into a disc or they could start using newer discs that can hold more.

DOOM: The Dark Ages - Final Verdict "Toxic" Masculinity At Its Finest | Gaming Instincts

The best way to summarize DOOM: The Dark Ages is that it lets you live out the ultimate fantasy of a testosterone-fueled, steroid-pumped gym bro who goes to space and slaughters demons—and nothing can stop him. There’s truly nothing else like it on the market right now, especially in today’s overly sanitized, pussy ass snowflake-infested gaming landscape. So thank you, Bethesda, for delivering the ultimate male power fantasy we all deserve.

"pussy ass snowflake-infested gaming landscape" You got that fucking right! not only in games it's everywhere, this is the pussy generation. 😂 "testosterone-fueled, steroid-pumped gym bro" I can relate but not the steroid part lol.

Tacoboto1d 6h ago

Doom is and has always been Doom, not a political statement.

LeeFender1d 4h ago

Oh yeah absolutely, it's just making fun of politics because there was some dumb website that said that DOOM The Dark Ages was "too masculine" so we are just making fun of them. It's satire dude.

FinalFantasyFanatic17h ago

I remember, I think it was Eternal where you're going through my area, and it starts with the "mortally challenged" and other lines like that, I thought it was a funny dig at the social climate at the time.

LeeFender1d 4h ago

Hahah thanks! Hope you enjoyed the video :)

Gameseeker_Frampt10h ago

Which website said DOOM The Dark Ages was "too masculine"?

The only thing I could find was when a bunch of snowflakes lost their minds over Rolling Stone calling the art designs uninspired and somehow made the conclusion that RS hated men.
