Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold 1 million copies

Clair Obscur Official Twitter:
"And here we are.
Three days after launch.
One million copies sold.

Thank you for believing in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33."

lukasmain9d ago

Congratulations and well deserved. I bought a copy but won't be playing it this year, just have too much lined up to play and I can only play 1 big game at a time.

RpgSama9d ago

Nice, I'm one those copies! I was thinking the same thing as you, I only started it because I wanted to like see how the first couple of hours were, now here I am down the rabbit hole, this game grabs you and it grabs you quick.

lukasmain9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Awesome. I've got it penciled in for after I platinum GTA 6. Maybe I could squeeze it in after I platinum Ghost Of Yotei, but we'll see. The game does look really great and I haven't played a turn-based game in a long time, I used to really love them.

LordoftheCritics8d ago

Been playing it for a few hours.

Decent 7/10

TricksterArrow9d ago

I would suggest playing it soon. It has some heavy and unexpected twists that will soon be common knowledge throughout the internet.

FACTUAL evidence9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I’ll take my Final Fantasy 17 turn based, please!

Lexreborn29d ago

I’ll take Square evolving the landscape, and play with games like Clar telling tales in the ones who came before them

-Foxtrot9d ago

"I’ll take Square evolving the landscape"

LMAO

Yeah because Final Fantasy XVI really evolved things alright...and this is coming from someone who didn't mind the game.

Lexreborn28d ago

@foxtrot

I wasn’t a fan of 16 but yes it did evolve the Final fantasy format further. They are moving forward regardless how people feel. They made 14 turn based games.

They want to move into more action RPGs and change the engagement people have with the franchise. They want to open up to more people and that’s fine, I may not have cared for 16 but I thoroughly enjoyed 15 and the final fantasy 7 remakes.

And I also still have 14 prior turn based games I can play no problem

thorstein9d ago

Same. I'm still on Unicorn Overlord. I might save this for summer, when I can play all night and really dive deep.

badz1499d ago

Question. Games are expensive now. Why buy games 1st day if you already know you're not going to play it anytime soon? Just to support the devs?

lukasmain9d ago

That's 100% the reason. If it was an EA or Ubisoft game, I'd just wait

smashman989d ago

For smaller games like this buying early and when it's not on sale is paramount. That's part of how we vote with our wallet. It's not just not supporting what we don't like but supporting what we do like and in a big way.

thorstein8d ago

This game was under $50.

What are you talking about?

I also bought a copy but won’t get to it until summer most likely

It’s a very quality rpg so far, the life in the environment, core mechanics, character expressions/details, quality graphics, solid performance. This game definitely deserves the hype.

Elda9d ago

12 hours in & the game is really good so far.

Sie9d ago

I'm playing on gamepass but i have purchased a copy on steam this game is soooo good.

babadivad8d ago

I haven't bought it on Steam because it doesn't have cross saves like it does on the Xbox store.

It's so cool playing on Xbox and then picking up right where I left off on PC. It's seamless.

If the game is available (which it often isn't unfortunately), I buy it on the Xbox store for this reason.

If it's not on the Xbox store, I buy on Steam or other store fronts.

victorMaje9d ago

Wow nice. Getting my copy soon, but I’m mostly happy because it’s turn based!

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has crossed 2 million copies sold

Kepler Interactive and Sandfall Interactive have announced that the turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now sold over 2 million copies.

Relientk7718h ago

Awesome! All the success is well deserved. My GOTY right now. Damn what an amazing game

chrisx15h ago

I'm one of those 2 million. I played my part. Its a great game. Turn based souls game 😹

FACTUAL evidence7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Played my part as well. I was probably the first person in my city to buy it. Soon as the shop opened I went to get it.

I’m hoping FF17 is like this, especially with the world map. It’s so OG FF it’s unreal. It’s one of my fav RPGs of all time right now. I’m impressed with really nothing negative to say about the game.

Hopefully we get more high budget RPGs like this one. I would love to see Sony start making turned based RPG exclusives again like the good old ps1 days.

Levii_9216h ago

It's a great game no doubt well deserved success but i must say i'm in act 2 right now and i don't quite get the super crazy reception for the game, i mean 9.7 on user reviews on metacritic is insane.. seems a bit absurd.

TricksterArrow15h ago

It’s OK if something is not for you. It’s still a 9.7, though.

Levii_9214h ago

What do you mean it's not for me xD i like the game a lot. How did you get that from my comment?

TricksterArrow14h ago

“I don’t quite get the reception. 9.7 is insane and a bit absurd.”

Your words.

The game deserves the 9.7.
You are still entitled to your opinion, though.

jukins13h ago

I swear you internet dweeb love to read things that aren't there. He said he didnt think irs as good as everyone's making it out to be. Somehow you guys are reading "I hate this game"

jznrpg15h ago(Edited 15h ago)

There is no game for everyone. I’d guess a lot of the reviews are from people who like turn based to begin with but either way it’s a well made game

CantThinkOfAUsername13h ago

A lot of tourists and casuals are playing this game. They pretend there were no good turn-based games since early 2000s.

jukins13h ago

I'm in dame boat. Good game but to me its not as good as people are saying. Writing falls off in act 2. Feel like this game got extra points because it was made by a small team and a bunch of people who think this kind of turn based is completely new. Then there's the issue of the "troll era" where everyone wants to hate the big dogs like final fantasy so they'll latch onto anything just so they can say its better

cironn6h ago

Or... OR... Maybe, just maybe... People really like this game a lot. Crazy, huh?!

jukins3h ago

No i get it its a great game. I dont like turn based really at all but this one is well done. Again you guys are reading things that aren't there and kinda proving the point.

Goodguy012h ago

For a $50 game and done by a small studio, I'd say that's enough to justify the scores. There is no perfect game out there but I believe the game deserves what it's gotten. I am a little critical of some of the scenes and dialogue but the overall story and gameplay really make it up for me.

Just ordered myself a physical copy, but it isn't due to arrive until the 24th May. Gives me time to complete The Last of Us Part 2 (I know, I know, I'm behind the times).

ravens5213h ago

How're you liking Tlou2. One of my favorite games.

Kurisu6h ago

I haven't quite made my mind up yet. I'm not too far in to the game, but so far I'm not enjoying it as much as the first. It almost feels like I'm forcing myself to play through it, whereas the first game gripped me from the get go. I've watched the first two episodes of the new series and I've enjoyed comparing the events of the game to the adaptation, but I won't be watching anymore episodes until I'm further in.

BLow11h ago

You're not behind, you are a gamer who has a backlog. Believe me you are not the only one. I have a lot a games I need to play. Quite a few are still shrink-wrapped lol. Enjoy Tlou2.

Kurisu6h ago

Thanks! Yeah, there's no rush to get to things. Honestly I've not been feeling in the gaming mood as much recently, but I'm looking forward to getting that feeling back.

arissaseah5116h ago

It's a great game and finally, it's achieving all the success and recognition.
