Assassin's Creed Shadows Review - IGN

The long-awaited Japan adventure sharpens and refines its edge without fully reforging it.

FPSRUSSIA36d ago

Looks Great good to see your positive on it Obscure I Have Nothing to Play until Then Ready to Play this.

GamingExplained10135d ago

You can tell Ubisoft is doing damage control because it looks like they spent a lot buying positive reviews for this turd, that was their last hope lol

@GamingExplained101

You people are so brain dead. Every single time a gane that triggers you snowflakes get a high score, it's bought.

SolidBoss81636d ago

I am excited to play this! My wife and I are huge AC fans and we have been anticipating this one.

goken36d ago

Somehow, you never fail to represent the “popular” opinion 😃

andy8536d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Expected slightly higher overall. Still looking forward to it!

Jingsing36d ago

Ubisoft isn't going to change if the mass media keep eating up AC after AC.

Christopher36d ago

I mean, if people keep buying it, why should they change? Same thing with CoD and annual sports games. There's a market, so they make it for that market.

Profchaos36d ago

To be fair there's a lot riding on this for Ubisoft

TheColbertinator35d ago

Good point. If people don't want AC, they can pick up something else.

Popsicle35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

@Chris unfortunately you are right. I used to enjoy some of the 2K games before it became overloaded with microtransactions and pay to win schemes. I quit buying them years ago, but there are enough people out there willing to “pay to win” year after year that there is no meaningful reason for 2K and others to change.

The classic Ubisoft safe 8

Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla and now Shadows...the Metacritic is roughly the same for all of them, between 80-83. May aswell give the next AC a 83 on Metacritic now.

Chard36d ago

It’s an Ubi game, so unless/until they shake up their formula we know exactly what we’ll be getting, and have already formed a view on whether we want more of that. So the score is redundant.
The only AC game I’m interested in is the rumoured Black Flag remake to see if they will remove any of the crap content that was in the otherwise great original

lucasnooker36d ago

Honestly it looked like an 8/10 from miles away…

Kornholic36d ago

The closer you look the more it looks like a 5/10 game.

lukasmain35d ago

It really doesn't if you look at it objectively.

Assassin's Creed Shadows (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Stephen LaGioia: "For my money, Shadows could have been better served stripping away or limiting a few more peripheral gimmicks (e.g. the Hideout and Kuji-Kiri meditations), while adding more combat abilities and nuance, which are a bit thin here. The game mixes in a slurry of elements that both work and don’t quite work from Valhalla, Mirage, and Odyssey, while sprinkling in a few new things that don’t really land as a whole (like scouts used for map details and resources, which need to be replenished). The result is a game that shines brightly in terms of presentation, as well as some combat and progression elements, but overall feels like a “jack of all trades” and a Samurai master of none."

Assassin's Creed Shadows' success shows that the threat of negative campaigns is overblown

As solid sales numbers for the new Assassin’s Creed stack up, other companies should take note of how little the manufactured controversy around it mattered.

It matters. There are hidden variables that can effect the outcome.

gigoran81d 5h ago

So criticism = manufactured controversy? Ok now I see. What you're saying is that Ubisoft is the darksydephil of game developers. That's all you had to say.

abstractel1d 2h ago

From the article: "...the target of an online outrage campaign over its choice of protagonist characters..." but the article they link to has more to do with how Ubisoft is monitoring their own developers and what they can say in social media. Seems misleading. I played 100 hours of this game and my criticism of the game, while I enjoyed it, had nothing to do with the protagonists. It was the lack of discovering new things, too much meaningless loot (as usual with Ubisoft), the lack of impact the bosses has (with one of Yakuse's storyline's boss fights being the exception), bad acting, and story overall wasn't very good. Combat was fine and it is a beautiful game. Ghost of Tsushima, however, was better in every regard. Can't wait for Ghost of Yotei.
