Yes, I've put over 1100 hours into the game, the added raytracing really helps ground the cars and the vr improvements are a genuine jump. I wouldn't buy the pro for just one game though, no matter what it is.

How do you play GT? Do you use a racing wheel, or do you use a controller?

I'm thinking of getting into GT next year and possibly with VR, but I wanted advice from a veteran.

Its going to blow you away. And that’s prior to PRO.

In case he doesn't get back to you I'll tell you my recommendations.

Logitech g29 racing wheel
Vevor wheel stand
Just use your own office chair and if it can be lowered that helps with different car setups.

These items are a cheaper yet decent option for adding a wheel.
I have over 300 hours in GT7 all in VR.

Also the DualSense isnt too bad in VR if you use the motion steering option.

honestly, start with the controller first. Worst advice I can give you is tell you to get a wheel, only for you to play the game and then get bored of it and be stuck with a wheel you will never use. If you play the game and love it, then maybe consider jumping into an entry-level wheel/pedal combo.

I have the Thrustmaster T300RS, but I use it dually between my PC and PS5, so I've been able to play games like Forza Horizon 5 with it, when I'm not using it with my PS5. Helps to get more use, but even still, it sits a lot of the time.

IRetrouk148d ago (Edited 148d ago )

I use both a wheel and controller, depending on how much time i have to race, the wheel will always be best but polyphony did a great job with the controller too, for best results go for a g29 as it has customised controls for gt and doesn't cost the earth, add the vr headset and I dont think you will have a better experience with a racer on console.

Edit, I would take neon's recommendation into consideration before just going and buying everything though, the wheel does take a little while to get used to and can put some off. If you do hop on the game hit me in the dms with your psn, I'll introduce you to an awesome group of racers.

In VR it's absolutely sensational. Its one of those, "highlights of my gaming life" things

I honestly prefer a controller. I had a fanatec wheel and chair for gt6 but just like the ease of use controller offers.

The compromises are kind of crazy, like I’d expect paying $700-800 to NOT see bad particle effects or smudged trees. The lighting effects in the interior of the car are cool, but also kind of distracting. I dunno, like I keep saying, if I want to see these enhancements badly enough, I’ll just check them out when the PS6 drops. My base PS5 is delivering just fine for the time being.

IRetrouk148d ago

There are plenty of options available, turn pssr off and you have slightly lower quality raytracing but a native 4k image without the pssr noise on some objects, its actually a really comprehensive update.

CrimsonWing69148d ago

Isn’t PSSR like the main selling point though…

CrimsonIdol148d ago

@CrimsonWing69 not now that it's released haha. The prerelease hype on here about PSSR was wild

IRetrouk148d ago

Its deff one of em when it works lol its not needed for em all though, gt7 gives you one of the most customisable experiences available on a console game for various options to fine tune it to your liking, but i get it, its not worth the punt for ya, I'm just saying there are options lol

TheKingKratos147d ago

So the PSSR ... Is just a Piss in the wind ?!

IRetrouk147d ago

Lol Depends on the game, it can only get better though, atleast, that's the intention, personally I'm using it with the raytracing option as I race in car, it deff gives powerlines and other thin objects some jaggies, but its honestly not noticeable untill you look for it.

Does it improve the game? Yes
Should you buy the console for the improvements? No

While it does a better job improving interior lighting / reflections, it's something that very little people are going to fall out of their chair over. Graphically the games look extremely similar with differences being very hard to notice minus some RT reflections. Moreso PSSR actually introduces some problems with blurring at various points of the game, call it growing pains with a new rendering technique if you will since it is rendering at a lower base resolution to help improve the framerates.

the PSVR2 improvements, however, are more apparent with the improved framerates inside the headset.

z2g148d ago (Edited 148d ago )

Spoiler alert: according to this article, the short answer is no.
Interiors look better lit, exterior objects take a hit or look blurred, artifacted. Framerates take a hit at 4k/60/raytracing

Psvr2: better frame rates but softer image and artifacts in reprojection.

Still a gen 9 mid cycle console, not next gen. Expectations should be as such. Upgrades are nice but most are small and not overtly noticeable. Not worth the price tag is the authors opinion.

This is a summary of the article, not my personal opinion.

derek148d ago (Edited 148d ago )

@Z2g, he actually says when he went back to the psvr2 on the base ps5 he noticed the downgrade and he felt spoiled by experiencing the game on the pro. VR2 is the only real way to play the game flat screen will never be a comparable experience.

fr0sty148d ago

Yes, even with the RT improvements, I still won't play this game on a flat screen ever again. It's just not the same. It actually affects my driving, the lack of depth perception makes me worse at it.

The Aston Martin Vintage?

Does the senior product manager not proofread?

andy8531d ago

Wish they'd put a couple of endurance races in. Every time there's an update I have the cars and the events finished in 30 mins

Babadook731d ago

"The next-generation racing AI agent, Gran Turismo Sophy has evolved into “GT Sophy 2.1” and is now available in ‘Custom Race’ (PS5 version only)

‘GT Sophy’ can now be selected as the rival AI in Custom Race on all GT Sophy supported tracks and layouts in World Circuits."

This should be fun to play with.
