A Plague Tale Requiem Game Length to Be 15-18 Hours Long With "No Filler"

A Plague Tale fans hoping for a lengthy campaign in the long awaited sequel, The A Plague Tale Requiem game length has been revealed, and fans will be happy to know that Asobo Studio has upped the time to complete it over the first game, though not at the cost of packing it with unwanted […]

ClayRules2012603d ago

Wonderful to hear!

The original game was a thrilling journey, one that didn’t overstay its welcome, and offered me a little over 10 hours in total, which was certainly more than enough.
Knowing this sequel is offering a longer length, with no nonsense filler, that is music to my ears. Improved gameplay etc. with an even more engrossing story, that pulls at our hearts, as we see these characters we came to love from the first game older, wiser, come to know themselves and each other more, and meet a new cast of characters on this journey, which I no doubt believe will be every bit as thrilling as the first game, but darker and full of so much heart, I’m so ready…😊

Ubi should learn a thing or two from padding. I hate that collect-athon thing in games. It's just fluff.

Andrew336602d ago

Good thing you don't have to do it.

ClayRules2012602d ago

Agreed, unfortunately after all these years, it seems they’ve not learned that. I’m right there with you, I hate that nonsense too.

Eidolon602d ago

Ubi and companies a like think playable hours = value, the more the better. And while their worlds are generally well crafted, they still feel empty and not engrossing, chorey. I often prefer linear or more contained world games these days, just for the sake of my backlog perhaps, but even Halo Infinites open worldish attempt is so much better than Ubi's bang for buck style with microtransactions.

Crows90602d ago

A thing or two? You mean like volumes!

@andrew
Except in odyssey you kinda have to unless you love grinding or pay up.

I still have to start Innocence. Have it on PS5, just been too busy playing other backlog games... looking forward to experiencing it and Requiem eventually

MadLad602d ago

The first one was great, and I legitimately believe they'll only build on that. Asobo is a great studio.

Elda602d ago

I couldn't get into the first. May try the sequel on GP next month.

Eidolon602d ago (Edited 602d ago )

I had a few gripes about it, but I'd put it at a solid "enjoyable, well crafted", or a solid 7. I don't know what it's trying to be, a stealth game, a puzzler, a combat driven. It did each okay when it came down to it, but most of the time it never felt "free", spaced too much by dialogue/forced interactions and segments with no real freedom, relying on the tools it just introduced or allowed by material availability scarcely spread throughout the area, when it seems obvious what it expects you to do when you want to do something else but can't. I would hope the sequel provides more freedom.

Elda602d ago

Possibly the reason I couldn't get into it..lol!

Nice... I just bought Evil West a couple months ago but never opened it. Now I won't have to. And i hear good things about Plague Tale.

crazyCoconuts142d ago

Plagues Tail Req is good. One of my favorite Dual Sense trigger effects on the slingshot.

--Onilink--142d ago

Nobody Saves the World is amazing too, SkillUp did a great review of it

Samonuske142d ago

On the same boat with evil west still have it unopened.

FinalFantasyFanatic141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

I already bought Evil West on PC just recently, I've owned Nobody Saves the World for a long time, I really loved the first Plague Tale game, I was waiting for it to hit $30 on Steam before I bought it.

Considering the games, this is one of the best months we've had in a while.

thorstein141d ago

I have every one of these on my wishlist. This is great!

I loved the first Plague Tale.

Better late, than never I guess.

andy85373d ago

This is impressive to be honest. Even very powerful PCs were struggling with this. I'd be interested to see what sacrifices it has. Probably resolution? I played it at 40 and it was fun, probably in the top 2 best looking games I've played. I bet it's a great experience at 60

LOGICWINS373d ago

Glad I waited. Will never support a game that doesn't have a performance mode.

CS7373d ago

I really wish I could understand the science behind how much I don’t care about performance mode.

60 to 30 makes no difference to me after two minutes of playing.

So strange to see that its a literal dealbreaker for most.

andy85373d ago

Your eyes do adapt a little but you never fully get rid of the feeling of the camera moving like sludge when panning the camera. At least I don't anyway. As a console player I was on 30 all the time but since the I got my PS5 I've played one game below 60 which was this game at 40. I tried it at 30 for a few hours (was lucky enough my 120hz TV was delivered the day after) and I really wasn't enjoying myself like I should be

JEECE373d ago

The feel and responsiveness of gameplay makes no difference to you?

Knushwood Butt373d ago

The big shock is going from 60 to 30.

I recently went from Far Cry 5 at 60fps, to Far Cry New Dawn at 30fps, and no joke, when first playing New Dawn it felt like the game was totally broken. I did get used to it after about 10 mins, but at first it's a night and day difference.

mkis007373d ago (Edited 373d ago )

I mean you literally see less per second. On average someone playing at a higher fps would perform better in an fps.

Personally playing jedi fallen order and now survivor at 60fps is way easier on harder difficulties. You need to block and dodge at a moments notice, having those extra frames is a built in handicap.

CobraKai373d ago

Same here. It all becomes the same to me. As long as 30 fps is, for the most part, stable, I’m good.

Babadook7372d ago (Edited 372d ago )

“I really wish I could understand the science behind how much I don’t care about performance mode.”

Motion smoothing on your TV perhaps? I would always disable it even if it shows more judder. But it will make 30 fps look mostly smooth.

philm87373d ago

Just depends on the type of game for me. Can quite happily play this type of game at 30FPS.

Obscure_Observer373d ago

It´s time to revisit Amicia and Hugo.

jznrpg373d ago

I still haven’t played this yet . Sounds like a good time now maybe this summer

Can Steam Deck handle a range of PC's most challenging games?

A Plague Tale: Requiem, Gotham Knights, The Witcher 3 Next-Gen and more tested.

Results are kinda what I would expect. Some good some bad, especially on unoptimized or CPU heavy games

Number1TailzFan483d ago

Indeed, if you want pure performance you'd get a decent PC for that. The Deck looks decent for low to kinda moderately demanding games though.

Army_of_Darkness482d ago (Edited 482d ago )

I don't know about yall, but this is the best and most capable handheld that I've ever seen! It's playing AAA quality games on the go people! That's incredibly awesome! Who ever expected a handheld to perform as well as a current console or pc is delusional! Seriously. I want one, just can't justify the purchase at the moment.

TheExecutioner482d ago

I understand young people like you wont understand how does acquiring work

Name single acquisition didnot results in layoff not to mention the after covid affect

Before putting non sense comment .. have a look around you

CBaoth482d ago

you drunk or sleepy? Either way go to bed

Flawlessmic482d ago

Lol your on some good shit

SullysCigar482d ago

Well, this is an unfortunate error on your part, huh... 🤔

Ready4nxtgen482d ago

Or just adjust the settings lol. Some features may be off 95% of games cam be run on deck.

SullysCigar482d ago

It does a stand up job, for a handheld.

I'd really like for Nintendo to start talking specs on their next handheld. Some people probably want to know whether to wait for that or go for the steam deck.

crazyCoconuts482d ago

The instant compatibility with countless PC games, many of which are either free, already owned, or given away by Epic/Amazon makes it essential imo. You could save enough $ on games to justify the handheld itself. Sure, also have a switch/switch 2 for their exclusives, but games are so expensive on their market, even old ones, and sales are few and far between. For me I'm a steam deck super fan now 😊

SullysCigar482d ago

Is Switch exclusive emulation a thing on steam deck? Because if it is, that's a big plus when deliberating between the two.

NotoriousWhiz482d ago

My biggest issue with the Steam deck is that it's still a PC. I don't game on PC as I don't have a gaming pc, so I was planning on using the steam deck as my gaming pc.

So here's a recent story. I went to go play some game I had (and never played) on my steam deck. I wander onto the community page. Oh look, there's all these neat mods that makes the game so much better. I download the mods. Run the game. It crashes. I tweak the mods, make some more changes. The game loads without the mods. I make more tweaks the game crashes again. 2 hours later, I decide it's time to play something else on the Switch for now.

SullysCigar482d ago

See, I couldn't handle crap like that eating into my gaming time.

Giblet_Head482d ago (Edited 482d ago )

Are you just haphazardly adding a bunch of mods without checking if they're compatible together?

Edit: Nevermind just checked your comment history. You're a troll.

NotoriousWhiz481d ago (Edited 481d ago )

@Giblet_Head

LOL, I'm very curious which part of my comment history made you think I'm a troll.

But to answer your question re: modding. I believe the mods should have worked together. I think there was only 2 or 3 I was trying to use, but there were lots of settings involved per mod. It wasn't just download and go.

EDIT: I just looked at your own comment history. Calling me a troll is funny. Your comments are very aggressive in general.

Flawlessmic482d ago

I just can't game at 720p anymore unless it's naturally older older game, I am my wits end with the switch and hanging for a new one.

The deck sounds like it would be awesome for emulation but don't think id pay that much just for that.

Bring on 1080p handheld gaming on that happens I'm in !

crazyCoconuts482d ago

It's really like 800p. Does that change your mind?
😊 On a screen that small I think the existing resolution is great.
The issues with resolution on a switch are probably not due to the screen but due to the console not being able to render demanding games at the full 720p with high settings. A lot of demanding games end up rendered much lower than 720p and scaled up to your screen, which will look muddy/blurry. Steam Deck is way more powerful, so that's rarely an issue

RiseNShine482d ago (Edited 482d ago )

The fact that it can run some of the most demanding games at close to 30 fps is still impressive,it has set the bar so high that now not being able to run Callisto Protocol or Gotham Knights at 30 fps is somehow a letdown lol, and with close to 6,000 games marked either verified or playable on Steam, you could be using Steam Deck for a lifetime with what's currently available, and that's not counting emulation, which should add a few thousands more.
