What does it say if Microsoft's next major release is content to follow the pack?
Details regarding the 10-year content plan for Xbox Game Studios and 343 Industries' Halo Infinite have allegedly been revealed.
"The story would have been expanded through yearly campaign DLC, so players would not have to wait for another mainline Halo title." ~ this seldom works
But I still think, they should've tried 1 last Halo sequel based on that slipspace engine, that they invested so much on but made for current gen only, before going all in on UE5.
The biggest voices of Xbox’s Halo franchise have been told nothing about the multiple new games in development.
Call me a cynic. But it seems that not even the people working in the studio know what’s the status of Halo.
They were going to add a BR mode, which then got cancelled, but now it’s a sequel to infinite, but may be a reboot of the first game?
It may be normal for development to be like this as super Mario galaxy started as cut content from Mario 128, which then became a tech demo, which became pikmin, which eventually became Mario galaxy.
But 343 or whatever they are called now-certainly don’t have a good track record so it makes me wonder what’s happening.
I'd be much more comfortable with the future of Halo if "343" or whatever they call themselves now were no longer in charge of the series.
Halo Infinite now has a functional bowling alley thanks to this amazing Forge map available for free on Xbox and PC.
WTF!!!? Can we add Tic-Tac-Toe, maybe Connect 4? How bout the card game Go Fish? Microsoft should shelve the Halo Franchise for 10 to 20yrs or sell it clearly they have no new ideas to take Halo forward and putting a "Hey gamer finish the game for us" mode and we can make more money off it and we can fire some more game Developers that we really don't even care about.......Microsoft is done even trying to make Halo a game worthy of even a little bit of our time.
Eh, I played MW from launch till the end of Season 3, and I didn't buy any of the passes/packs. The new weapons (each season, 2 new were part of the battle pass) were free if you played for them which could be problem if you didn't play enough to unlock them, but other than that you're only missing out on some cosmetics.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of any in-game purchases really, but I was able to stand that.
Doesn't say anything.
There are great multiplayer games out there and still will be even if halo has them.
Halo isn't the be all and end all of multiplayer games...not even close.
Well ..... how else do you make money off F2P multiplayer?
Ill wait.
I dont mind battle passes, i actually enjoy them. They are cosmetic only, and offer me more progression when playing. So I feel more rewarded. So I disagree with the post
I find battle passes to be the least egregious microtransaction model. It still rewards performance and gameplay, and adds a sense of progression with cosmetic rewards, rather than a loot box system which relies on gambling.
Since this halo multiplayer is going to be free to play and we know it will not have loot boxes, I think a battle pass system would be my preferred way to invest in the game.
I understand the concern about FOMO, grinding.. but frankly.. games like this feel empty if I don't have something I'm working toward, a grind with a carrot on the stick reward at the end. So I want that in Halo, I want an incentive to play just one more match, I am okay with that being in the form of a battle pass.
