I love the Baldur's Gate games and I bought the remasters (and the originals back in the day!) which I have played on Mac & PC so it's great to hear that more people will be able to play them. I might even buy them again for my PS4! My only question is does this isometric top down view translate well to a large screen TV? I know Obsidian's Pillar's of Eternity was released on console, does anybody have anybody have any feedback on how it worked for them?

Christopher1908d ago (Edited 1908d ago )

NWN will be fine. The others will likely be either pointer based or evolved to be more like Pillars of Eternity for movement. Which works great as you move normally with joystick and can pause for specific targeting or action firing. No point and clicking except when paused.

Baldurs Gate! Had a blast with Baldurs Gate in the PS2 days. Good Times ahead.

Razmiran1908d ago

Very different game tho
Ps2 version was a dumbed down hack and slash, not a crpg

Kurisu1908d ago

@Razmiran: Yeah, I jumped ahead with that comment before I read the article. I was thinking of Dark Alliance, not the originals. I've never owned the originals but I did play them at a friends house many years ago and I did enjoy them too, so it's great that this style of game is coming to PS4.

Christopher1908d ago

I enjoyed both BG and BGDA. I would be happy with both being ported.

Razmiran1908d ago

I guess using "Dumbed down" was a bit harsh, it reads as if didnt like them
Just wanted to point out that it was a very very different game, although still very enjoyable for different reasons

I am excited... maybe even a little dark alliance

Seraphim1908d ago

At least a few times a year Baldurs Gate comes to mind. Same as Realms of Everquest games like Champions of Norrath. PS2 was a Golden Era for these games; at least imo... Anyway, I just hope these "enhanced" versions of the games have the proper visual upgrades to go along with that stellar game play. Great News tho!! We are in desperate need of games like these.

Great news! Always wanted to play Baldur's Gate! Will defy check it out on PS4!

bluefox7551908d ago

Cool, all classics. Wouldn't mind playing these again.

bumbleforce1908d ago

They said consoles not juat ps4

AmUnRa1908d ago

But in the article they say it will come to consoleplatforms, it is mentioning nowhere that is only comming to PS4, so 😉

Team_Litt1908d ago

Coming to Xbox One as well

xX-oldboy-Xx1908d ago

There's so much good news surrounding xbox, they're definitely going to come 3rd next gen.

AmUnRa1908d ago

FLT said he will defy check it out on (his) PS4, he never sayd that the games will be only on PS4, so why are you saying that?

MaxiPower901908d ago

baulders gate on ps2 wad among ky favourite games. will this be like that?

salmonade1908d ago

Yes, I think they're exactly like that. I've played them all in the past on PC, but I don't remember too much about them, I just remember they were all very similar and were very awesome back in the day.

ninerguy16081908d ago

I think this will be the turned based baulders gate from pc. BG on ps2 was dark alliance 1&2. Action rpgs. Maybe wrong but since article didn’t say dark alliance I feel it will be the pc baulders gate.

salmonade1908d ago

Oh ok lol. I barely remember much about them at all. But I played ALL and everything I could get my hands on that was similar on PC. I may just have to pick all these up on PS4 for sure though

ninerguy16081908d ago

Wasn’t baulders gate 1&2 called dark alliance?i think this baulders gate will be turn based like the pc baulders gates. Those on ps2 and of Xbox were like diablo.

SamPao1908d ago

You mean Dark Alliance? nah these are the original ones, they are waaaay different.
Dark Alliance was realtime action, BG wasnt. Dunno how they are going to make it though.

Elwenil1908d ago (Edited 1908d ago )

No, the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance games on the PS2 were little RPG action games, the Baldur's Gate from PC is pretty different.

MaxiPower901908d ago

ah right. i had picked the pc ones up yeats ago but never got round to trying them as i mainly play console's. will give them a go.

bigmalky1908d ago

No. That was Dark Alliance, which was more action focused. These are straight up CRPGs. Great though.
