Resident Evil 2 PS4 Pro vs Xbox One X: Which Version Should You Buy?

Gadgets 360 says: "Overall, the Xbox One X has the edge in terms of visuals. As for frame rate Resident Evil 2 holds up well on both consoles. Considering the level of optimisation Capcom has achieved with Resident Evil 2 on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, it will be interesting to see how the PC version fares. As it stands though, if you have an Xbox One X, that's where you should be playing Resident Evil 2."

“As it stands though, if you have an Xbox One X, that's where you should be playing Resident Evil 2."

No thanks. I’ll play the game on the platform the series grew up on. PlayStation.

It’s not like there’s a night and day difference between the versions anyways.

Neonridr1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

do you even own an Xbox One X? If the answer is no, then your point is rendered sorta moot.

It's obvious if you want to play the version at its best then the One X version wins. That being said, play it on the hardware you currently own. The versions are close enough anyways.

bouzebbal1972d ago

if you have Pro and X1X, then pick it on X1X. simple..

Darkwatchman1972d ago

I know. There could be a massive difference in visuals and framerate, but he’d still be a fanboy and say “no thank. I’ll play the lesser version just because it’s on the family of platforms it grew up on”.

People need to learn to stop having such an attachment to boxes...

Team_Litt1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

Lol why are you protesting? They said IF you Xbox One X then play it on the platform that it plays best on. If you only have the weaker console then play it on that.
Only a simpleton would play an inferior version of a game IF he can help it unless it's for reasons like preferable controller or where friends play. "Because it grew up on Playstation" is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard for choosing an inferior product.

Atom6661972d ago

Think about how I feel. I first played RE on Saturn. Guess I'm screwed...

darthv721972d ago

Technically it grew up on several platforms and continued to improve with each platform as they came out.

RE1 was on PS1, Saturn, PC, DS, Gamecube
RE2 was on PS1, Dreamcast, PC, Gamecube
RE3 was on PS1, Dreamcast, PC, Gamecube
RE:CV was on PS2, Dreamcast, PC, Gamecube
RE4 was on PS2, Gamecube, PC, PS3, 360, PS4, XBO.
RE5 was on PS3, 360, PC, PS4, XBO
RE6 was on PS3, 360, PC, PS4, XBO

Dark_Knightmare21972d ago

Yeah I think he knew that but I think he meant more that resident evil like final fantasy, tomb raider etc is synonymous with PlayStation and is the first system you think of when you hear those names

GtPawnSacrifices1972d ago

Gonna show my age here; But RE2 was also released on the N64.

Imortus_san1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

Also:

RE0 was on PS3 and X360 and is on PS4 and XBO
RE1 was on PS3 and X360 and is on PS4 and XBO
RE2 was on N64
RE7 is on Switch (japan), PS4 and XBO

Most of them are on PC.

A really big multyplatform game just like Street Fighter was before Capcom and Sony ruined it.

Neonridr1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

RE4 had a fantastic version on the Wii with the motion controls for aiming. Not to mention that RE4 started on a Nintendo console.

froy4021971d ago

You forgot to add n64 for resident evil 2

darthv721971d ago (Edited 1971d ago )

@Knightmare, I can see how you could think that. But I'll be honest, I don't put any of those games as being synonymous with PlayStation. I played tomb raider on Saturn, where it started. Same with res evil 1. Final Fantasy I played on NES and SNES and didn't play them on PS until FFX on PS2. I have since gone back and gotten 7-9 but I don't consider the series synonymous with PlayStation because it is on so many others now.

It's just me though so I play things differently than others. You can view them how you like but it doesn't make it right.

How about you enjoy it on the platform you own?

Kumakai1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

since i own both consoles and pledge no loyalty, i'll be playing on the better console version cuz thats why i bought the better hardware - in this case thats not playstation.

UltraNova1972d ago

Do you have a gaming PC?

timotim1972d ago

Except you are talking about buying the game on PS due to nostalgia, where as the author of this piece was talking about playing it on X due to it performing better on that platform.

You buy what you want at the end of the day...but if you care about having the best version on consoles, its X.

Prubar1972d ago

Meh. The first time I played RE2 was on N64.

1972d ago
DrumBeat1972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

You should play it on whatever you choose, but your reasoning is moronic.

ButchKween1972d ago

I played both demos and to me the xbox one version looked more blurry. I'm thinking the final release got a resolution bump on X1.

AK911972d ago

Whichever one you can afford.

THC CELL1972d ago

Both same price??? Unless you work for game store and get 15% discount 🤔

AK911972d ago

I was referring to the consoles

Kiwi661972d ago

How about if you own a PS4 Pro buy it for that, if you own an Xbox One X buy it for that and if for some reason you own both flip a coin

Kiwi661972d ago

Thats another option but this article is talking about which console to play it on is it not

StormLegend1972d ago

Depends on what you play mostly and if you care about a resolution difference. For me it's the platform I bought and thats a PS4. Why buy 2 consoles just to play multiplats?

Latex741972d ago (Edited 1972d ago )

It's not just for multiplats there are other games you know not loads I admit but enough for me too get both anyway I sure I am not the only one it's great it plays great on both consels

The art of difficulty: What’s the best way to make games harder?

There are many ways that a game developer can choose to raise the difficulty in their games — but which ways are the most effective?

DefenderOfDoom293d ago (Edited 93d ago )

A great example on how to do difficulty in a video game is DOOM ETERNAL. Started playing on ULTRA VIOLENCE but then I started playing on NIGHTMARE after a couple hundred hours of playing on UV . What makes DOOM ETERNAL fun, is on Nightmare, the enemies are very aggressive ,but they give you the tools to defeat difficult enemies , you just have to learn how to use them .

FinalFantasyFanatic93d ago

Doom Eternal was so tough, but it felt so amazing to finish that game, even when the enemy feels unfair and gang up/box up into a corner.

Nacho_Z93d ago

Personal dislikes are bullet sponges and bosses with regular enemies thrown in. Just make the boss hit harder if it's too easy.

thorstein93d ago (Edited 93d ago )

I think Helldivers 2 really gets it right. If enemies are easy, they swarm. If they're high level, they tend to have good defense and need strategems to take down...or bait.

I never feel too angry if I die by swarm because it is usually my fault for not checking my 6. I don't even mind dying if a teammate drops a bomb on the swarm that is gutting me.

I don't like cheap deaths. When the game allows you to progress only to hit you with an enemy that is suddenly immune to all the things you've unlocked and mastered is just dumb. If the game doesn't do hit boxes right and you get killed in lame ways it is dumb.

The screenshot is from Elden Ring, a game I really enjoyed, but the scaling was silly. I didn't do the Eligtree til late game so it was goofy difficult. I thought the Elden Beast was rather cheap. Not a fun skill based match, but just cheap enemy. There was no sense of, "oh it defeated me because I did this or I did that" like all Souls/Borne games.

Crows9093d ago

Don't handhold. There you go. every game is immediately harder and more rewarding.

DarXyde93d ago

1. Intelligent opponents that don't have some set, optional strategy to win and requires more critical thinking.

2. Game provides players with the knowledge and tools about a game world to stand a chance (or at the very least, the opportunity to gain the knowledge and tools).

3. Don't insist on enemies having much more health than the player arbitrarily. Sometimes, you'll have more durable enemies who are armored or inhuman which I would say is fair. The best approach to this I can recall in recent memory is Naughty Dog games: You're extremely vulnerable without armor and can get picked off pretty easily, but your enemies are pretty beatable with the right weapons and strategies where you can't just brute force it. That said, ammo is in short supply, so you engage at your own risk.

4. Depending on the type of games, make resources more scarce without necessarily making enemies bullet sponges. It simply means you'll have to choose your battles carefully and have damn good aim. Like Uncharted. If you're not good at headshots, Crushing is a rough time.

The 7 Best Video Game Remakes of All Time

Remaking video games is not a new trend, but it is more popular than ever. Which are the best video game remakes of all time?

shinoff2183127d ago

It's a crime star ocean 2 remake isn't on this list. Jeez

kevco33126d ago

There's so many remakes coming out these days, I'm sure many people's favourites won't have made the cut!

jznrpg126d ago

I agree with you. It’s was so good I finished it way faster than I wanted to.

ApocalypseShadow126d ago

Where's the 2D love? Like Strider and Bionic Commando Rearmed? Some of my personal Remake favorites.

LightofDarkness126d ago

Those games were excellent, especially loved that Strider reboot back just after the PS4 released.

got_dam126d ago

Links awakening was fun, but it STILL runs very poorly. Slowdown all over the place.

DefenderOfDoom2126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

For a 90s video game remake I would put QUAKE 2 at the top. Nightdive did a amazing job . And Machine Games added awesome new content.

Soy126d ago

Dead Space over Mario All-Stars, esp since All-Stars was just a graphical upgrade. Otherwise.....can't quibble much with that list.
