According to some people, these games will look worse on a 4k TV, after the enhancements 😆😆😆 great job Microsoft.

starsi3602208d ago

Those people are talking out of their 😼😼😼
I’ve tried RDR and Portal 2 and both look so much better than before. I’m on a 4K 2016 LG OLED

timotim2207d ago

Exactly! Look how much better that looks! They cant help themselves I guess...

Kumakai2207d ago

People will hate on anything Xbox. I installed red dead last night. I’m on a Sony Bravia xbr 4k/hdr 65” and it looks great.

timotim2207d ago

Sad but true. Even with the same exact assets, just by increasing the resolution to native 4k we see how much better it looks from a AA standpoint...so much cleaner and sharper with no jaggies.

zaherdab2207d ago (Edited 2207d ago )

According to some people, some other people might be trolling but some people say that some people are not trolling so i dunno what some people are talking about ....

Tried red dead and portal 2 myself yesterday and i can guarantee to some people that they look way better on a 4k tv, they sure do show age and texture look very matt but 100% they look better than the pixelated mess any 720p resolution looks like on a 4k tv

timotim2207d ago

🤣🤣🤣You 're boy @MakoD!!! He be wildlin haha

Curious, wouldnt just playing on an xbo clean them up as well? i mean obviously an X will get you the 4k but on a regular unit it should still clean up nicely to 1080p.

timotim2207d ago

You are correct. Some people think (cough cough MakoD) enhance just means that its taken the original native resolution and blowing it up to said higher resolution...they don't understand that Microsoft is changing the native resolution, allowing us to see the fine details better/clearer.

Glad I picked up a 360 copy of Red Dead a couple months ago with the X. This 4K patch quickly moves it up the pecking order of my backlog. Gears 2 was a given, but a little surprised they updated Portal 2 over L4D2 and Star Wars rather than Halo Reach. Portal 2 is fantastic though

jaymacx2208d ago (Edited 2208d ago )

The level of clarity on the X is amazing. This looks just like remastered versions of games we have to pay for ( Final fantasy XII Zodiac Edition & Kingdom hearts Remixes) . Hopefully this process will be on future consoles and we can take our collection with us.

chaos-emeralds2207d ago

Best thing about xbox. And they will just bring everything with every generation now. This was the point where I need an xbox one x now. I feel an epic E3 coming this year.

kevnb2207d ago (Edited 2207d ago )

"Remastered" games are such bs. They are just ports rendered at higher res, rarely a few little changes here and there but nothing major. Some genius just took the term from music and movies, you know media that is actually put through a mastering process in the first place. In music/movies remaster means they re did the mastering from the source material, in games its just a marketing term.
All that being said, sony actually does have a ps2 emulator on the ps4 but makes customers buy their games again to use it. Hackers have exposed it, shame on you sony.

You left out The Darkness games bring those back

fan_of_gaming15d ago

The head of Nightdive Studios has posted that The Darkness is on their list of games they want to do, so hopefully something comes from that

Little Big Planet 1 and 2 deserve a mention, IMO.

Good call on Motorstorm, a game released 2 gens ago but still looks and feels so good. Motorstorm 2 and Motorstorm RC were gems as well. They followed up the Motorstorm games with the brilliant Driveclub, which still manages to put modern racing games to shame. Imagine closing down a studio as talented as that ... (!) Incredible.

A little 'arcade-gem' back then was The Last Guy, a top down 'follow the leader' snake-like game where you had to find and lead survivors to safety during an alien invasion, on terrible looking 'Google-earth' maps. Graphics were poor, even back then, but would love that same gameplay with modern maps and graphics.

Street Fighter 4, once it finally had a full roster, was quite good, but it was always an ugly game, sadly. Imagine bringing that back while using the current SF6 engine.

Good suggestions, I'd be in for
LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet 2
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift
Motorstorm: RC

God damn I love motorstorm so much

At the time I had a low-mid range sony 40” tv, The latency to the controller was waaaay too high, would to play a modern version

In saying that later I got a 3d lg tv and playing the 3d motorstorm in my bedroom with the environment crumbling around the track, was something special, specially compared to what others were playing at the time, will always remember that

Skuletor15d ago

Some good choices here and Resistance: Fall of Man is my most wanted PS3 remaster/remake. Not sure about their claim it was Sony's answer to Gears of War though.

CrimsonWing6915d ago

I’d rather have sequels than remakes. Look at Dead Space 1 Remake. Would’ve been cooler if we got a new entry and it failed with sales sealing the fate of a sequel rather than just replay the same game and it fail in sales and we never get a new entry.

Remakes are great for things like PS2 and earlier games to really get a crazy new graphical coat, but I think we should ease up on all these remakes and actually do sequels.

fan_of_gaming15d ago

Yeah for sure, sequels would be ideal. But in the current market environment where many big publishers are risk-averse, I'd rather get a remaster or remake that a developer can do on a budget that will be approved, rather than nothing for an IP.

Inverno15d ago

I rather they remaster and port over to PC and current gen all the games permanently stuck on PS360. Those games don't need remakes, they need to be given a chance to live again outside of their confined consoles and then give a few proper sequels. Like Sleeping Dogs, Motor Storm, LA Noir, should get another entry.

fan_of_gaming15d ago

Yeah I'd be fine with remasters of PS3 games too, they don't have to be remakes.

Rockstar still strying to make GTA plus work
Should be $6 for the rdr game on sale not 6 bucks for a months playtime

Exvalos30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

I hear ya, 49.99 or whatever the price on that game is, is a bit stiff seeing as it's just a port.

anast30d ago

Why would anyone rent this game?

jznrpg30d ago

One of my favorite games from PS3 generation. I have the remaster as there was a buy 2 get 1 free deal a while back but the price they are charging for the port is way too high although not surprising at all.

Steam's highest-rated game is now less than a dollar in the Spring Sale

Jack writes: "Yet again browsing the latest offers in the Steam Spring Sale has led us to track down the very best. In terms of price to quality, we don’t think that it gets much better than this. Portal 2 is now less than a dollar, and if you haven’t got it already, now is the time to pick it up."

TheEroica38d ago

Portal deserves to be one of steams highest rated games... It's almost tetris levels of perfect game design.

TheEnigma31338d ago

It's a great game, but highly overrated. But for $1, it's an amazon deal.

Friendlygamer38d ago

Valve should bring their games to ps5

Kados38d ago (Edited 38d ago )

Gotta love Steam. Just got Portal 2 for .97 cents CAD. Should have been $1.29, selected the bundle with Portal 1 and 2, which gets a 25% discount, already have Portal 1, so it removes the cost of that, and still applies the full 25% bundle discount to Portal 2. 90% + 25% discount.

Friendlygamer37d ago

That's sweet, I've been thinking about building a modest pc to play some oldies
