Nintendo Switch's Online Service Will Be $20/Year, Includes Classic Games [UPDATE]

Nintendo Switch’s online service will cost $20/year and will launch at some point in 2018, the publisher said today. Playing Switch games online will be free until the service launches.

Classic Nintendo games with added online sounds extremely good to me. Absoloutely justifies the cost and then some. We shouldnt compare it to Gold but its sounding good.

Xbox game pass doesn't come with gold it's a separate service.

Nintendo's classic game selection comes with Nintendo's version of gold/ps plus.

Well the big part is they are giving online gaming at a much cheaper price than xbl gold and psn plus you can say it's worth it with all these other services attached but what if your just a gamer who wants to play online? It even has party chat. Yea you need a phone but who doesn't? If done right it ( its easy to do) can be a really good way to filter out kids...

People aren't saying it's better than either. PSN blows btw, compared to XB Live, it blows. Hideous set up, expensive, free "shit" games, always updating and dropping connection. Always going offline in certain areas for hours on end.

People are happy with what Nintendo is offering for $20 a year. It is a good deal. And you will get great classic games. Just because they are old doesn't mean they suck. That's just idiotic.

I think the selling point of switch will be sole focus on gaming online and being much cheaper than psn and xbl.
It starts in 2018 and I'm sure Netflix and other services will be on it by then.

Well, technically, doing that is stealing and illegal. It's just really, really easy to do so. Doesn't make it okay. I believe that the games should be very cheap, but they still have every right to charge for games that they own, especially when it one's take alot of work to get them running perfectly on new hardware. Note that I said perfectly.

why exactly would anyone in their right mind pay for an online service that's from the last century?
why would anyone still want to play 30 year old games? today we get flooded with indie stuff that redoes and rehashes every game there ever was. on every imaginable gadget. which brings me to the biggest question:
why would i even support a system that got an abysmal developpers support and if it gets supported the games have to get downgraded in order to fit on that system?
