Why I Chose To Wait On The Nintendo Switch

Skewed n Reviewed's Gareth discusses why he chose to wait on the Nintendo Switch.

I think the same logic can apply to any console; or consumer electronic device for that matter. I also am choosing to wait, but someone buying it now does not make them dumb or anything.

I agree, and then these same people talk about the system need 3rd party without 3rd party it fail...so how is the system suppose to survive if everyone waiting. Retarded logic. If me and everyone who own a ps4 waited Sony would of struggle. Early adopters are very important for each system they give the developers a chance to see if he should put his game on their especially if resources are low.

Not sensible to me to wait for a game console. Can't apply the same idea to other electronics. It's sensible to wait for other general electronics like TVs, computers, devices, components etc. because they drop price in a matter of months and very often up to 50% off in a year.

As for game console Switch gonna be $300 for certain next year. At most they throw in a free game. And at most it's $50 off at BF with a free game but then it's gonna be sold out anyway. So there is no reason to wait.

Hardware issues.. There's a Nintendo one year warranty, so that doesn't matter.

I always felt like everyone had a wait and see mentality with the Wii U and that was part of why it failed. Third parties started with some good offerings, but nothing that would've been a great indicator for sales (how many people had Mass Effect 3, Batman, Tekken, etc and simply didn't want to buy another fancy version of it?). Consumers wanted to see what Nintendo would do and what third party support it would get. Ultimately, neither side got sales and it didn't go well.

Honestly, it's more sensible to wait for a game console than a TV, computer and so forth. The difference is that a console is supported for multiple years, where as phones, TVs and so forth are constantly refreshed. A great way to "get" this logic is to look at the iPhone.

We know it will eventually be on sale and there will be deals, but we also know it will only be the "latest and greatest" for about a year. The longer you wait, the more likely it will be phased out and odds are the new phone will do something better and it's just an endless cycle.

@LordScorpio

At least the Switch has exclusives....

Garethvk3029d ago

What are you going to play on it? Old games that you can play on any other system?

Difference is Xbox and PlayStation have plenty to play and include all mayor applications people use. Today the switch is barebones, and has only 1 game worth playing.

Garethvk3029d ago

One that you can play on the Wii U might I add with no significant differences in quality.

Exactly. It is a matter of a personal choice.

That controller looks like a cheap knockoff... it should have been a proper DS5 design.
