Todd Howard Talks 'Fallout 4 VR': "I Assure You, V.A.T.S. in VR is Awesome"

Yes, it's still happening – and it will be the whole game. Bethesda originally announced that it was working on a virtual reality version of Fallout 4 at its E3 2016 media event and showed off a brief but limited experimental demo that illustrated the potential of the idea. When we spoke to Bethesda Game Studios executive producer Todd Howard in November, he told us "that’s the promise of VR, being in a big virtual world.

This sounds perfect. I think RE: 7 proved you can do VR in a full 1st person game, though I would think that an over the shoulder view would be equally as fun.

I just don't want devs to eliminate ideas because we aren't running around our living rooms. Let me move with my joystick.

Can't wait to try it I'm afraid that it may not come to psvr though which would be a shame because I'm sure the pro could support it maybe not the base model. And i would need to upgrade my gaming rig to play if it was pc only and pay for a vive

That is the only downside to PsVR IMO, that everything has to run on the og ps4 too. So far so good, but it could stop some things from getting on the system down the line.

i expect a deal is being made with microsoft for scorpio. people will say thats why it wont be on psvr but i just dont think it would run well on a regular ps4 and they dont want to bother. this is one of the downsides to sony's decision to mandate no ps4 pro exclusives. when games have to run at higher frame rates and some games already getting to low resolutions to be playabble on psvr this game is just too taxing on the system to have a smooth enough experience.

Its probably gonna be timed exlcusive if not full exclusive for scorpio. They were talking about it in the scorpio video

Super happy to see this was eventually resolved for PlayStation Plus Essential owners as well!

Bethesda addressed this the other day. There was no fear... just impatience.

P_Bomb9h ago

Expecting something to work at launch is impatience?

They said they were looking into it, followed by only giving news about Extra, and then editing out the “free for all” message. You don’t think all of this wouldn’t give some reasonable doubt?

How Bethesda Fumbled Fallout 4's Sudden Popularity With The Next-Gen Update

Fahad from eXputer: "Bethesda rolled out a messy next-gen Fallout 4, ruining the experience of many new and returning players after the TV show's success."

Fallout London would've been the perfect return gift for Fallout fans after watching the Prime show

EazyC38m ago

Bethesda could have kicked them some cash about a year ago and collaborated to make it a full scale thing

Profchaos1h ago

I think they chose right 4 was the most accessible fallout to date however I really wish 3/NV got some switch love or psvr2 ports

MrDead0m ago

They didn't fix the major bugs that have been plaguing the game since release, broke mods and every modded save.

Fallout 4's next-gen upgrade launch could have gone better

Digital Foundry writes: "It's all a bit baffling. Patch notes describe a 4K 60fps performance mode, a 4K 30fps/40fps quality alternative (depending on whether you are running on a 60Hz or 120Hz display) and a 1440p ultra settings variant. This seems to have been delivered for PS5, but there are problems with Xbox Series X. The performance/quality mode toggle does not work. The evidence suggests that Series X is locked to performance mode only. Disabling this on Series X doesn't seem to change anything - and visuals are notably cut back not only up against PlayStation 5's quality mode, but also against the Xbox One X 4K 30fps back-compat variant you could play last week."
