Sony's Bravia X960D series are among the best with great incredible pixel density, amazing luminosity, and really great HDR ranges in color, and they aren't terrible on latency in HDR mode.

I ordered the XBR65X960D yesterday directly from Sony and it's being delivered on Saturday. Along with my Pro... it's among the best 2016 4K HDR and it tops out comparatively well against Samsung's KS8000 series TV...

If you want a good 4k TV with HDR for gaming then anything under a $1000 really wont do. You need high refresh rate otherwise youll have massive input lagg. For movies its fine but for gaming its aweful.

Not great contrast ratio (dark gray instead blacks)...

Sony TV brand are actually great but expensive. So I don't know how the TV sucks so please enlightenment me. No hdr isnt horrible depending on how much someone has to spend and how big of a t.v. they want.... but 120 hz is critical.

There are not a lot of 10 bit HDR televisions on the market currently. In 2017 at CES you will likely see some amazing new HDR Panels that offer 10 Bit. Samsung is currently getting ready to unleash SUHD TV which will offer 10 Bit Support. Most models that are on sale are 8 bit. This one is 8 bit

I don't see why you'd need anymore than 60hz. Consoles don't output higher than 60, tv is 24hz. I had a 120hz tv years ago and turned off the motion plus, it's complete crap. When I had to replace my old tv I bought a 60 hz and it works perfectly.

I just think it's not good to cheap out on something that important. Things like Colour gamut and contrast range are just as important as input lag for gaming and a great HDR experience.

This TV cost $900.

Yet the Hisense I just bought for $499 scores neck and neck with it. Even scored BETTER for gaming overall. It's tit for tat really- the Sony has better viewing angle but the Hisense has better blacks with a contrast ratio of 4150:1 vs Sony's 990:1

Neither are "true HDR", though they can both interpret HDR10 to a traditional rec709 color space (neither have wide color gamut).

Check the rtings.com reviews for yourselves. Even with the discount buying with the Pro, you can get a TV just as good with far better blacks and 4x the contrast ratio for $100 less, with better sound and no reports of Wi-Fi spontaneously cutting out.

It's crazy how top brands are offering TV's no better than lesser brands, and for nearly twice the price. It's amazing how much value you get for that $500 Hisense. It's not going to compete with a $1200 Samsung, but for the entry level price you'd be hard-pressed to find a better TV, in fact I'd take it over that Sony every time, AND save money doing so.

I think you're right as far as those 2 tvs go. The only bad thing i can really se with the hisense is the input lag but other than that its a great deal for $500. I might just go for the Samsung 6300 for a little more money.
