Problem with the X1 is that multiplatform games play better on it's competitor console (PS4) and the X1 has few exclusives. Since the X1 can't rely on multiplatform titles to sell the console they have to rely on it's exclusives... and X1 exclusives are few and far between.
Basically the X1 needs more exclusives, more exclusives, more exclusives.

If you are a average user that mostly plays FIFA, COD, AssCreed, Battlefield, etc, every year, which console would you purchase? Likely the console where you can play the best version of those games.

I play mostly multiplats, I choose Xbox for network and my friends..

If I wanted to play the same game on both consoles side by side, I may have worried about it.. But there is no noticeable difference and has mostly been blown out of proportion..

No! You're wrong and completely wrong at that. Multiplatform games perform or run better in certain areas on PS4 but the games don't play better. If you want gameplay you need an Xbox controller and maybe Xbox live to experience the game in the best way possible.

Fewer exclusives is also all talk when you're just throwing numbers out for the sake of numbers even though they have less or about the same quality. Xbox1 has games of quality and backwards compatible games that jolt it up in that category. Some of you guys are delusional and talk to much.

But the performance of those multiplats on the competitors console is so minimal I would rather settle for the known xbox exclusives like forza horizons that the ps4 doesn't have anything like, Elite dangerous which I also owned on pc, but rather play with friends that I've known for years, and teach them how to play. I'd rather play halo on dedicated servers. Rather play Bf4 at a little less performance on the X1 with those friends, and also download those huge patches and DLC using my true Internet bandwidth that I pay for (150mb download) instead of being limited by Sony servers, onto my gigantic external hard drive or Ssds . Sony got Call of Duty now, and it's so 360 kids screaming era that don't care much for it anymore. The elite controller and xbox layout for me is just perfect, even though I grew up on a Ps1 and Ps2. And not everyone like Jrpgs. XBL service is a whole lot better then what people make it out to be on this site because fanboys got an agenda to run.

Controllers are close enough that most people aren't going to consider it. I've had no problem playing with a DS for over 20 years now, and I doubt most people care. The controller is hardly the thing which makes games play and perform better on the PS4.

If I was all about power, I would never have gone to consoles. I don't want more power, I want better games with new ideas and concepts. Only very few new ideas or concepts require new technology, 99.999% of it is just in designing things and moving away from a heavy focus on graphics.

Either way Chris, we'll be getting the same things in games, because games still have to be built to the legacy hardware. New hardware wouldn't solve anything in that regard.

So all we get is prettier versions of the same thing, which may sometimes run better.

Hard to see why that's worth throwing down another $400+. Even going into this gen, up until recently, it's hard to say if it's been worth it for the graphics upgrade, since that's about all we've gotten so far outside some larger open world games....which are more empty than the smaller ones of last gen.

Next gen or go home, in a couple of years we need next gen systems, we kind of already do. Updated current gen systems are just an expensive band aid solution that I fear may artificially keep the current gen alive for longer than it needs to be until we get next gen systems.

The neo has 30-40% more power than the base Ps4... that is nothing.... its just a band aid on an amputated leg.
In my mind it doesnt make a lot of sense, Sony should be looking at making a Ps5 by now and have it ready to launch in like 2018. But no they are wasting R&D and time, and money on the NEO and are probably going to rip us off and make us suffer with this underpowered gen for longer than we need to.

I hope I am wrong about NEO stretching this gen out... because we need next gen to happen and so do developers.
Ps4 is underpowered... and Neo is just a tiny bit less underpowered, this gen is like 3 years old and we should really be having next gen systems under our tv's in like 2-3 years.

I don't know about R&d.. These machines are getting so close to PC, AMD does all the leg work.. If AMD shrinks the process or develops a whole new apu, it goes in the box and end of story..

Same with the memory, new modules are available so it's not crazy to slap those in as well..

People complaining about it, and articles fishing for hits on spurious rumors does not denote any kind of actual effective demand. Just proves that there are a lot of people on the internet who can't be happy or accept that there is more to games than the number of pixels.

I can say that if people are disappointed in current performance, they aren't going to be too happy for too long with systems that are supposedly 50-100% more powerful. Generations between PC GPU's tend to have more power increases than that. At best, we're looking at solid 1080/60 in most games. Maybe some added particle effects. Hardly something that most people should be clamoring about given what we have today.

While I'd say that current systems are a bit under powered by the standards in which they released in, they aren't exactly so under powered that they are incapable of delivering good experiences, and for the most part, most of the people aren't lamenting over resolution or frame rate because when you actually play the game, you adapt to what is there, and it doesn't really affect you that much.

Just over two years ago, when people started lamenting the power, not a few months before they weren't complaining about how the games were unplayable at lower resolutions and spotty frame rate. But as soon as the new generation arrives, it seems it's given people the opportunity to suddenly become discerning game connoisseurs. They're like the audiophiles of the gaming world. So pretentious in their discerning tastes, and nobody takes them seriously because of it.

In any case, MS already has a product for people who want a more powerful X1. It's called a PC.

That would kind of defeat the purpose unless they were pulling all the older XB1 off the shelf and replacing them with XB1 Slims for $250 or $199 in July. Then when the holidays hit, they release the XBox Next for $399. I wouldn't even waste my money on a XB1 Slim, especially if the hardware is exactly the same as the original XB1 with maybe an increase of storage to 1TB.

You know, this is such a screwy situation.

On one hand, the demand may not be there. Updating hardware that has many of its software offerings on other consoles or PC could make a supra-Xbox One a tough sell to current owners. If anything, it could drive a good amount of their fan base into Valve's steamy arms. In this situation, they may wish to not update the hardware (but we're basically certain they are).

On the other hand, if they DON'T respond to Sony's Neo, it'll be left behind...or rather, CAN be left behind. It's entirely contingent upon Sony's enforcement of no Neo exclusives. If they allow Neo to be the lead platform, PS4 basic and Xbox One will suffer. In that case, not responding to Neo would be bad.

To Microsoft's credit, they've lasted three generations in Sony's shadow. Whatever decisions they make, I think it'll be for the best. Though I am partial to the PlayStation experience, I need them to humble Sony and force their hand here and again. PS3 became such a dream machine when there was lost ground to make up. The result was a phenomenal platform by the time its successor came around. Microsoft can release revised hardware. Or not. The resulting action won't break them or reduce any funding from their parent company, I imagine. I'm very interested in seeing what Neo and a revised Xbox will offer besides performance. Native backwards compatibility? Greater integration between Windows and Xbox? Stronger Wi-Fi? More USB ports? More DEDICATED ports?

E3 will be incredibly interesting.

The only way MS has any chance of gaining ground over the PS4 is to be more powerful. Because as of now the PS4 has all the advantages, so there is little to no reason to buy an xb1 before a ps4. But if the xb1 played multiplatform games better, that would give them a huge advantage, especially since the console has very little in the way of exclusives.

This is how the 360 got the edge the first half of last gen, it didn't have the exclusives like the ps3 but it basically had most of the multiplatform games due to them being optimized better on the 360.

I disagree about the exclusives, I would say XB1 has the exclusives, but that is also subjective. But this generation has shown exclusives isn't a big deal compared to multiplatform games. I do think Microsoft has to release something better hardware or really close to the PS4 Neo. Perception is reality and even though the difference between the multiplats are very minimal, people are still opting for the "better" version which is the PS4.

So crazy this gen. Three years in and so far we have had delays on top of delays of some of the most anticipated games and then on top of that a lot of high profile games released already have been disappointments. And yet already going into this E3 the biggest buzz is new consoles.

People going on about lack of games, complaining about delays, complaining about lack of content, and now people just want something that will allow them to have all of that...but with more pixels. Quite honestly, the least important thing people have complained about this gen is the resolution and frame rates.

And we're not even three years in yet. Three years for rumors of a new console would be more tolerable...but we've just hit the 2-1/2 year mark last week. People really should consider just how recently these consoles released, and then just how long it usually takes for the stand out really good next gen games to show up historically.

This upcoming E3 was primed to be over saturated with tons of games, both exclusive, multi-plat, and first and third party, and all that's getting talked about in the media and on forums is a unverifiable rumor with absolutely no substantial weight behind it.

But if this new xbox has significantly better specs then I'm buying it day one. I think the demand is much higher then what people would think. I think console gamers need to get this notion out of their head that their piece of plastic is going to be relevant for 5+ years. The market is going to dictate it regardless of what people want.
