There's no longer a place like PlayStation Home

Home didn't work, and it certainly didn't pump blood through the PlayStation body, but it was fascinating to inhabit all the same.

Me too, I was pretty fascinated with the central hub area. That would be perfect for VR. I think they got rid of it and PS home just became a bunch of random zones.

If Sony had kept proximity chat in Home, then I think it would have been a much bigger success.

If it had had more game aspects to it it might have been more successful. As it was it was a big chatroom with some crappy advertising type games. It just wasn't any fun.

I feel like they got some nice games near the end like the Pirate ship one and the racing game, but it was too little too late by then.

I was part of the beta for Home way back in 2008 and found it to be decent, but nothing I'd spend a majority of my time on. It only recently got my attention again after finding out it got patched for trophies, of which I got nearly all of. That "No Place Like Home" trophy was incredibly tedious

I used it to set up games once it worked. It was fun, and the ability to make rooms for any game via Home really was a huge plus.

It was a way to make a party and travel through multiple games.

Actually, we even had a N4G Home group, we used to play quite often.

I used to be part of closed beta and it was better then than when PS Home was opened to public. It was a mess, riddled with dirty kids, happy that it was closed down.

I do not want to see PS Home again ever, not even on PS4

home was a fantastic concept that for me felt like it was lacking full intergration. It would have even cool if we had the option to run the PlayStation menu from inside home so home was effectively the host up.

Maybe I haven't exexplained it well but remember when they showed the trophies room? Or when you could plan your battles for Warhawk right there in home?

The original concept was great and could still work even better on ps4.

I.e

1) if you share play, your friend will be sitting on your home sofa next to you.

2) party chat - you all come to the same roroom, or mobiles ring in home

3) Spotify can be played across the apartment via radio.

4) home can detect whether you and your friend both have paid access to services like netflix, it then allows you to simultaneously stream it from the tv.

5) your pictures, screen shots and video captures can be displayed around the room in digi frames.

Things can be taken even further with clan rooms that have features that good, you have to use them

1) big notice board - editable for goals, aims, comments to be seen by all clan.

2) clan achievements/ rankings board

3) displayed pictures, videos of clan moments everywhere.

4) the clan hierarchy on the wall (in the style of a police investigation)

5) alarms and reminders

6) unlocks - furniture, features,

7) work with developers to get training schemes built into the clan houses. The controllers and sensitivity would adjust to match selected game game.

My point is, the concept is there to be built on and taken full advantage of.And then there is morpheus

Yes, it is indeed making it to the ps4, as is Neotopia which is the developers that made spun land madmunky, than there is already Avakin Life which is made by Lockwood which is also porting the Avakin Life Game that's already on Android , iOS, and Amazon Fire devices to the PS4.

The relaunch of Home is and is not 100% a Playstation Home Relaunch, many of the 3rd party developers that were mostly 3rd party indie development studios, mainly wanted to make their own ver of Playstation Home, but with their own worlds and their own development assets.

Playstation Home worked, and it indeed worked all to well, due to the fact it was almost pure profit, low investment cost but High Return on DLC digital content that you could release. That also means that the PS4 being all new hardware, that the developers wanted to make use of a new Engines and making the New Ver Better than the PS3's Playstation Home.

again, it was not just one of these companies, it was more than one So the three largest development studios on playstation Home wanted their own, so that split the development assets between three, Sony could not do it beside themselves without more development teams, the fact that even Sony would be starting over on the PS4 for a playstation Home releaunch, but also with the three largest development indie 3rd party studios all making a choice to make their own. Sony Decided to Drop Playstation Home but still allow the release of the new social 3D game's to release on the PS4.

If Home is to ever work again. It must be seemless with no downloading. I am thinking Home + Cloud would be ideal. No need to redownload whole modules for each thing. The most frustrating thing about home was loading times and downloading modules just to get it to work. If it were all on the cloud it would only require you to log in basically. Which would work out better I believe.

Well Sony also has Gaikai. Either one could work or well a combination of the tech.

it was a nice bonus on the ps3. It was a great way of showing off what the ps3 could do in its early days.
