PlayStation E3 Prediction: Sony Santa Monica New Game Announcement

PlayStationing writes: "Sony Santa Monica at one point reportedly had three separate development teams making new games. One of these teams, Stig Assmussen’s, was developing a “Sci-Fi RPG” that was cancelled, mainly because it was no longer a financially viable project. However, the other two teams have supposedly been working on new games as well."

Yeah, it was supposed to be a game like Destiny, but PS4 exclusive.

It will be God of War IV, since Stig's game was cancelled. It will, most likely, be a CGI teaser. I can't imagine Corey's team would have much game play together yet.

I disagree. Where would the story go? Also, Sony Santa Monica have been working on God of War forever. They deserve to make a new game and prove themselves and the fans that they are worth more than just one game.

At the very least, they could make a spiritual successor. It'd be different, we'd get the GOW feeling, but it'd be a different game.

EDIT: Wrote this comment before reading the article, and it said the same thing. So, I guess people would like something else from them.

God Of War needs a break the IP has become over exposed the last 5 years, I wanna see something new from SSM.

In the article they talk about wanting the new ip from SSM, but I say why not get both a God of War teaser and the new IP, well I can dream anyway.
E3 should be a good showing for Sony, I hope they spend only a little time on PS3/ vita/ VR, and spend a bulk of there time revealing PS4 games.
They had what 17-18 studios working on PS4 games and we've seen what 5 of them(knack, KZSF , infamous, the order, and drive club) that leaves 12-13 games to reveal... Though I'm pretty sure there won't be that many.

As much as I love God of War, I'd like to see them do something different. Sucks that Stig's game never got to see the light of day. He did direct one of the best God of War games ever.

Their studio is massive. There are over 200people under the name Sony Santa Monica.(post-layoffs)

I think they usually have 3 teams. One is the xdev team and the other two make in house games. If your asking if all 3 were making games at one time? I can't say for sure.

I double disagree, the God Of War story can go anywhere...That's why it's called Fiction... They could even introduce a new character....I'd be up for God Of War: Hercules. The Rock has a new Hercules film coming out, so SSM getting the rights to do a game based on that would possibly afford us one of those rare moments where a movie based game, is actually good.....

I don't want God Of War to stop anytime soon, just for the developers to evolve the gameplay & change some stuff up for the better, maybe make it a total 3rd person slasher with a over the shoulder floating camera system that allows freedom, without prohibiting gameplay...then after that, obviously I wouldn't want them to totally butcher the story.

By the same token, a Twisted Metal would be awesome....Loved the last one on PS3, shame not enough bought it. And M-M, I'm not sure SSM are responsible for ANY of Warhawk, as the game is developed by Lightbox Interactive (I think, or Lighthouse), either way, they developed Warhawk & Starhawk, & because nobody bought, or liked the superior Starhwak, they switched to mobile phone development.

I know that either way, if a new IP, then GOW won't be happening for a very long time, & if GOW is on the cards, then a new IP is a dream that will take 5years to come to fruition, thanks to the fact that SSM's team has been cut in half.

World Wide Studios is all of Sony's studios - including SSM , GG , Bend , ND , MM , etc.
