Haven't played in a while, but I have faith in Rockstars creative minds to reel me back in soon enough

MestreRothN4G3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

I don't. It's such a major downgrade from Red Dead Redemption (except only for graphics) that I have as much faith in Rockstar as I have in Blizzard.

Or no... Idk. Blizzard at least destroyed their game intentionally. Now, while GTA5 is not as putrid as the latest Diablo, it's the most beautiful and empty/meaningless world in recent AAA sandbox games. 'But look at all these activities'. Yes, I look, but you notice that they're all completely pointless. Compare with RDR outfits requirements to have a standard. Gather gold on all racing in GTA5 and what you get? Nothing.

A design lesson, right? Well, in the "what not to do" chapter, but still a lesson.

-

At least the microtransactions piece of the game (which they succesfully lied that was a different game LOL) has a leveling system, to make the instances of the game all interconnected. Sadly the focus there is selling MT, another stupid major design choice. I hope not much people are falling for the scam.

yezz3756d ago

I'm not saying that GTA online doesn't need more activities but what does RDR exactly have to make GTA online a MAJOR downgrade?!

BattleTorn3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

@yezz
Re: what RDR had over GTA

In-match Posses, with in-game scoring. (GTAO Crews mean basically nothing - no "crew fueds" like in Max Payne 3, as far as I've seen)

Gang hideouts (missions against NPCs, IN FREEROAM)

**ANIMALS IN FREEROAM!**(nuff said)

Online challenges on weapons, hunting animals, and more.

And on top of all this, the GTAO Leaderboards are STILL NONFUCTIONAL. I was and have been very active on R* Social club with managing my large crew. The in-crew leaderboards for members (on both systems) is still a complete mess. AND overall crew leaderboards are still completely nonexistant. (the page says return later)

What kinda game releases, and can't get leaderboard functionality within 4months?

Alexious3756d ago

Clearly this is a big deal for them, and they'll try to make it right.

Where is the mutha fuckin bank heist at?.

BattleTorn3756d ago (Edited 3756d ago )

/ Buy GTAV for nextgen consoles: now with heists! /

I can see it now

Alexious3756d ago

Not sure if they'll do GTAV for next gen, but they should port it to PC later this year.

A LIVING LEGEND3756d ago

GTA online suffers from the same issues that seem to plague ambitious open ended games. It promises great things but never seems to deliver them.
I would likely give it another go if R* could deliver on the idea but I have my doubts.

SegaGamer3756d ago

If it was broken then it should never have been released in the first place. Is this what we should expect now from games ? its not right.

themanjackson3756d ago

I'm sorry to have to argue against a few of you bit I think gta and R* get too much flack on forums. If they'd offered me an unfinished product in May last year or the September before that, I'd have snatched at the chance. I'd have played whatever story mode they had so far and played at just that until Online was launched. Imagine if they'd delayed launch until now, or whenever they release a patch that has everything you want fixed or added. I'd like destructible buildings and earthquakes but I'm not gonna boycott the game until it's on. For playability GTA can't be beaten. And now R* have a totally progressive game. They want you to play it for years not months. Don't sweat it, you won't have to wait til GTA 6 to see all those things in the game and working. I've not even read this article but I just thought I'd get my piece in.

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos10d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

isarai10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Skuletor8d ago

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.

Thar she blows! That be a whale!! Let's talk to them mateys!

phoenixwing22d ago

@disagrees
Didn't have a good rebuttal did you? We all know the select players are whales who waste thousands or hundreds of thousands on the games currency. You expect them to make the same kinds of demands as everyone else? Keep dreaming.

Inverno22d ago

Well that and most likely streamers who have helped harpoon all those whales lolz.
