Indiebundle.org has unveiled their latest bundle titled the Killer Zombie Bundle. This bundle features 3 games for $5, and a 4th game can be unlocked if you pay $7 as part of their Bundle+ offering. All of the games include DRM-free downloads, and 3 of the 4 games come with a Desura or Steam code as well. The bundle is predominantly PC titles with the exception of Deadly 30 which runs on PC, Mac, and Linux.
Paul writes: "It’s not a big game, or particularly clever, but what it does have is that gaming X-Factor; that hook that keeps you playing every time you accidentally blow a survivor up or get pogo'd by a punk zombie. With only three levels to go at, it’s not going to be hugely long-lasting, but you will have fun while it lasts."
Neil writes: "Zombie-filled nightmares are two-a-penny on the console scene. But every now and then a fun undead alternative pops up. And that's what we have here and now with the launch of Zombies Ruined My Day on Xbox One - a super cheap, amusing nightmare that is full of zombie action."
Perhaps ironically, many of these games are rarely played by people who still enjoy videogames from the days of the arcade and systems like the NES and Sega Genesis. This list covers retro-inspired indie titles that deserve more attention. We’ve excluded more well-known games, such as Super Meat Boy and Shovel Knight, from consideration. Also note that many of the listed games are free. Finally, this list isn’t definitive; it only covers games that we believe are as good as or better than the retro-inspired games that get most of the hype.
