That would be pretty bad for Liberation, but expected.
GribbleGrunger  +   531d ago | Intelligent
Perspective:

Assassins Creed 3 sold 2.15 million to a userbase of 140 million, while Assassins creed Liberation sold 100,000 to a userbase of 3 million.

People disagree LOL

fermcr, of course they take percentages into account. 100,000 units would be seen as good sales for most games even on the PS3 or 360 in it's first week. What did you expect it to sell?

Ubisoft (and other software company's) don't care for the userbase. They only care if the game sells and they make a profit. If they don't make a profit on a specific platform, then they probably won't release games for it.

@femrc: no ubisoft etc do care about the user base; it's part of their allocation of rescources from one project to the next; those are good sales considering the size of the userbase..
dragonyght  +   531d ago
yeah that doesn't include psn (digital copy)its kinda hard to gauge how much it sold without those
mrbojingles  +   530d ago
It's only going to get worse (Liberation's sales) from here on out. Isn't like 80% of most game's sales (with exceptions) in their first week?

I'd say Liberation will do 300k max. Which I suppose is good for a small user base, but not lighting the world on fire.

Honestly it's probably a little bit better than I expected, but not great
Nimblest-Assassin  +   530d ago
Liberation is not a good game

It squanders so much potential its frustrating. Why can't dev's understand that you do not need to incorporate vita features to do the most mundane tasks

Aveline is not an interesting character, the persona mechanics feel forced.

The only thing the game does right is emulate the combat and movement in AC3

AC3 was the best game I've played all year ( the last one Im planning on getting is hitman, so that may change)

But ACL was a joke, I was really excited for it to

@fermcr

Are you joking? Ubisoft jumps on every system, hell they have the most wiiU launch titles

Thats pretty decent compared to other vita games. Currently the top seller is Golden Abyss with over 600000 copies sold.

Actually thats really good for a handheld. For example GOW Chains of Olympus sold 160,909 in its first week. The game to date has sold approximately 3.09 million copies
Ult iMate  +   530d ago
I'll get me a copy of Liberation only this week (been busy with MGS Collection). Don't even know, if I'll buy "big" AC3 this year, but definately getting portable one ASAP.

agree.

Some good games may not get much attention at the beginning, but if it is a really good game then those ma get picked up later on by new vita owners.

assassins creed liberation is such an amazing game on the vita. i still cant believe what a proper game it is. good first week sales for the game as well . ive got assassins creed 3 also but i like playing liberation more. im in awe to play such a title which seems like a ps3 game and i cant wait for other games of the same calibre or better. i cant wait to see killzone mercenaries on vita and im so hyped for cod declassified after being surprised by how good it looks which is akin to the ps3 version.

thank you sony for the most powerful handheld console with amazing games. the vita is amassing a nice collection of quality games which doesnt seem downgraded from bigger console releases. vita has an abundance of games now and im hoping the sales pick up way more this holiday season. i want the most quality built handheld console to succeed so i can keep getting high quality games and consoles in the future instead of weak shoddy handheld consoles with bland and shoddy games.

I've got them both as well and AC3 hasn't even been unwrapped yet, still playing liberation.

I'm confused. Isn't 100,000 good? Then again, VGCharts...so who really knows.
GribbleGrunger  +   531d ago
It's not 'good' it's exceptional.
TheUndertaker85  +   531d ago
Plus as stated below nobody really seems to know if VGChartz takes into account digital sales either. If it's not then the number of sales for Liberation posted here would be quite low or at least lower than actual sales numbers.
aquamala  +   531d ago
I expect the game to come to ps3/360 eventually, unless Sony paid ubi crazy amount of money not to. Why would a third party dev make a vita exclusive when there's a much bigger ps3/360 market
TheUndertaker85  +   531d ago
The same reason developers have been putting out games based on their console counterparts for handhelds since... Pretty much forever?
Tei777  +   531d ago
100k for AC liberation is great, especially since that doesn't even take into account digital sales. Anyone who has played the game knows that its production value is only fraction of that of AC3, so I expect they'll be making their money by years end.
Blankman85  +   531d ago
UBI backed the wrong horse with the extra content, 360 version is selling more, this despite of Halo 4 launching tonight.
Silly gameAr  +   531d ago
Wow, do people really have to bring Halo up in every gaming article? If people care about Halo, they would be in a Halo article. I'm not even sure what Halo has to do with Assassin's Creed.
TheUndertaker85  +   531d ago
Curious.

Do you think VGChartz takes into account digital sales? I've heard that being a giant no.

Considering AC3 is available via PSN but not XBL(As far as I can tell)what do you really think the odds are that the 360 version has actually sold more?
aquamala  +   531d ago
Has nothing to do with what ubi decides to back, it's who offered more money
lodossrage  +   530d ago
@Ndivhu
The next time a PS3 version of a game outsells a 360 version of a game according to Vgchartz, I'm hoping you remember THIS very post you made.

Too many fanboys being selective around here. You people need to make a choice as to whether or not vgchartz should be considered credible and stick with it. Period.
Aceman18  +   530d ago
@ndivhu

this quote is from the article.

"The difference in sales between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions is next to nothing. The Xbox 360 version had a 52 percent marketshare, while the PlayStation 3 version had a 48 percent marketshare."

does this sound like the 360 version severely outsold the PS3 version? can see why you are down to one bubble, no one wants to see your constant fanboy nonsense comments over, and over.
moegooner88  +   531d ago
1.1 million in europe..., I think Vgchartz might have under-tracked the sales, in the UK alone game is Ubisoft's biggest launch in history, and outsold revelations by more than 100k:

Vita version doing good, maybe the positive opinions about this game from ACTUAL GAMERS in comments/forums/amazon.com will give the game perpetuate sales

It's important to support the vita game. It's pretty good. Not great but I liked it so far. Of course it could be better but it's great to have such an exclusive title and not a bad skimped port...

The sales will probably decide if UbiSoft will continue develop more exclusive games for the Vita...

100000 copy's is good for lib. As expected, even with all the hate being thrown around. Good to see there's still a lot of level minded gamers that ignor the BS. Imma just say COD may sell even more, as a vita owner .... I hope it sells good. Rather its good or bad if it sells that may convince them to put a true dev for the game's sequel. Vita games next year will be even greater no doubt.

Great sales, Liberation is def the Best AC ever
azshorty2003  +   530d ago
I would love to play Liberation, but I don't own a Vita yet. But with the recent price drop, that might change soon.

my gf got me the white AC3L bundle for xmas/bday. although i cant open it till then its such a steal. for the same price as a base model black vita you cant go wrong. if your interested, i would pick the bundle up quick as gamestop ran out day 1 within 100 miles of my zip code. my walmart had 2 left the other day. its safe to say there probably gone now. check amazon maybe. alternatively theres a black cod blops bundle coming out soon too if you miss the AC3L bundle
Ult iMate  +   530d ago
Aren't you a lucky guy! Your gf supports your gaming interests.
medziarz  +   530d ago
man, for a giant corporation that sells game boxes they're doing a s**y job, maybe Gamestop is riding the Sony's-a-failure-and-doome d train.
it makes less and less sense to do shopping in such stores when amazon has everything one click away and it's always in stock

Thats the one I considered getting. Hopefully I can find one. Didn't realize it would be gone that quick. But I would think they will restock it and it wasn't a one time thing.

If thats the combination that moves Vitas, you better believe they'll make more.

The question here is will the wii u version outsell liberation..
TheDivine  +   530d ago
I wanted AC3 much more but decided to support Liberation because i want big franchises on handhelds. Its not perfect and def frustrating to see the potential not reached but its a massive leap from Bloodlines and a good 1st try from a side developer. Im hoping it sells enough for Ubi to decide to make it a mainstay on Vita. If they add in more variety, more side content, more platforming challenges, and polish everything up it could be as big of a leap from AC to AC2. The foundation is rock solid.

This is the first game that proved the Vita's potential to me. It also proved that half assed games like Resistance, Unit 13, and COD were shoved out in prob 6 months without any thought involved. This is beautiful and massive. Makes me hope for an Infamous on the Vita. It could prob even run GTA4 Stories (like the psp games) or something like a Skyrim side game. Even if its not as good as other AC games its damn good for a handheld and is very important in sending a message to devlopers that their games are not only possible but have a market waiting for them. Come on Dead Space and Demons Souls!
Snookies12  +   530d ago
I was with you until Unit 13... I absolutely loved that game, and I'm really not into many shooters. Then again, I was playing co-op through it. That could have helped a good bit.

COD isn't out yet! And from the looks of things you may be in for a positive surprise
iHeartHelloKitty  +   530d ago
The Vita game is pretty good. There's just a few things wrong. Voices are low quality but the soundtrack is really good. One more thing I can't get any further its an error message bug in the game. It kicks me from the game and says to report to Sony? I would be ticked if I didn't have other games...Ragnarok Odyssey is a great time spender.

You're comment is the biggest flop, the game is barely a week out and it sold 100k.
Myself like many others are still getting a vita and that will be one of the first games to get.
abc1233  +   530d ago
100k is actually very good considering the install base and the serious amount of competition it had around its release date: AC3, Halo 4, Black Ops 2, PASBR. I for one didn't get it because I've already bought/pre-ordered a few games from that list, but I'll definitely be picking it up at some point and I'm sure that's true for many vita owners so the sales shouldn't be too bad over the long run.
Conzul  +   530d ago
While this game has what I'd say is the best AC story so far, it's a pure HEADACHE to play because of all the bugs. Some are gamebreaking IMO, even after 1.01
