Success - Crysis 3 will feature unlimited running that will not eat up your suit's energy

DSOGaming writes: "At long last everyone, Crytek has finally realized how stupid it was to automatically activate nanosuit’s speed mode while running. Yes, some people tried to defend Crytek’s decision, claiming that it was due to Alkatraz being hurt and that he could not run without the nanosuit’s ability. Of course, that was a bunch of crap. Truth is that it was an awful decision, a decision that had a major gameplay impact and made a lot of players vulnerable to campers (in Crysis 2′s MP mode). Well, time to forget this dreadful feature as Crysis 3 will sport unlimited running that won’t eat up your suit’s energy." (Crysis 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Finally I hated sprinting for like 5 seconds and losing all my energy. Success indeed.
PRHB HYBRiiD  +   277d ago
Yeah those soldiers ain battlefield ran even longer distances without a suit...now is like usain bolt mode.
WeskerChildReborned  +   277d ago
Awesome i guess.

As awesome as this is... It got it's own article? This site is certainly quantity over quality.
DavidMacDougall  +   277d ago
Will the online run smoother too? Cause i aint buying the 3 cause of the mess and lack of support u gave 2.
DwightOwen  +   277d ago
Crysis multiplayer sucks. Why are they wasting talented resources on it? I'll bet Crytek has more people working on it than will actually play it.
Ashunderfire86  +   277d ago
A lot of people still playing it on PC.
torchic  +   277d ago
I still play it on PS3.
MRHARDON  +   277d ago
I personally find no need for mutiplayer in the Crysis series as its trash like DwightOwen said.

Only people who have intelligence compariable to a box of rocks would play the Crysis series for mutiplayer.

Hey the nuclear bomb in Crysis 1 multiplayer was epic.
SJPFTW  +   277d ago
Crysis suffering mad consolitis. I guess not enough buttons for both a normal sprint that does not drain energy and a super sprint which does, like it was in Crysis 1
StayStatic  +   277d ago
Yes because that makes things so much harder : / , Counter-Strike doesn't have these things , turning a game into a piano session doesn't automatically make it skillful (WoW for example) , not saying it will be good either , hope it is xD

They also let you shoot while cloaked = easy..
mad consolitis indeed!

Crytek admitted it!
I expect the same from crysis 3. But I am glad it will melt my gpu before the series dies..

I waited for the direct x11 patch to buy it on sale. But i would have to say crysis one impressed me way more. But the texture pack helps alot but still the graphics seem off i guess its because of consoles.
iamgoatman  +   277d ago
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to the next-gen console controllers having more buttons just for this reason. Hopefully the Wii-U will at least help solve this problem if used correctly.
SilentNegotiator  +   276d ago
Consoles all come with pressure sensitive sticks that are used for movement in 99.999% of 3D games.

Levels of running are limitations on consoles only in an uninspired mind....multiple forms and keys for something as simple as running is an over-complication that a smart developer knows is detrimental to the game.

Now, I eagerly await your off-topic retort about how horrible the other stick that controls aiming 99% of the time is.

Why not have a standard walk speed, quick sprint speed and an ultra fast, but limited suit speed?

john2  +   277d ago
that was how the first Crysis game was. My guess is that they enabled automatic speed mode due to consolitus (I hate that word but I can't see why they decided to scrap Crysis controls).

I think they tried to simplify the controls so it was easier changing between different modes on the fly. I played through the first Crysis quite a few times and even I found myself getting muddled up at times using the radial menu. It did help in that respect, especially when using a controller, but it also removed those creative assaults that required a bit of skill to pull off. Which wasn't a great trade-off imo.

I used to quick save in Crysis just before a camp, plot out my attack before hand (the more elaborate the better) and if it didn't go as planned, I'd often restart until I got it right. Just made the game more fun and added an extra challenge. Didn't do that at all in Crysis 2, despite the obvious reasons (no quick save, too linear).
MrBeatdown  +   277d ago
I kind of liked having it tied to energy. You had to be more methodical in MP. Now it's just going to be a stealth sprint-fest.
torchic  +   277d ago
I get where you're coming from. you had to very carefully plan your route out in your head before heading out. but that made the game VERY stop/start. and coupled with the fact that you had to run with armour/stealth, the game was more about maintaing suit energy than actually shooting a lot of the time.

but yes it made Crysis 2 more "strategic" than other FPSMPs
MrBeatdown  +   277d ago
There were actually a few loadouts to work around that. You could equip a couple perks that slowed the energy drain from stealth and sprint. And you could use that along with a perk that gave you an energy boost for each kill. I used that a lot. I could basically run around nonstop, assuming I actually killed somebody here and there.

I can see why it annoyed people though. You had to be ranked up quite a bit to get those options. Most people probably never made it that far.

...They need to bring back a lot of stuff from the first Crysis.
nofallouthero  +   277d ago
thank god now its closer to the first one
now all we need is max power gone and max strength and speed put back in and ill buy it for the pc
cleft5  +   277d ago
This is not such a great idea. One of the main problems with Crysis 2 was that you could stealth and just sprint through all the facts. You could even do that for the final boss fight somewhat. I like the idea, I just hope it doesn't stack with stealth.
john2  +   277d ago
Stealth mode depends on how much you're moving. If you're sprinting (and you are in stealth mode) your energy will drain quicker. This won't change. They're changing the auto-speed mode that was enabled when you were sprinting without selecting a mode.
cleft5  +   277d ago
Yes your energy does drain faster, but if you maxed out Stealth you could Sprint while being in stealth mode for a longer period of time. You could literally just run past whole sections, wait for the energy to refill, which it did quickly, and do it all over again. This mechanic kind of broke the game and I beat this game on Superhuman so I do have an idea of what I am talking about.

Regardless, I am still looking forward to Crysis 3. I just hope that they don't repeat this situation.
Somebody  +   277d ago
Maybe the creators of the Crysuit were thinking of environment and the suit's horrendous energy emissions. So they made Crysuit 2.0 to be more energy efficient, hence the hybrid power management. Now that the world and the environment are one big mess (in the domed New York at least), to hell with environmentally friendly war suits.

Maximum power+maximum emission = maximum kills all the way.
torchic  +   277d ago

Hufandpuf  +   277d ago
I just want to take the time to thank you.
iamgoatman  +   277d ago
Had a mod that did this in Crysis 2, made for less frustration. Sprinting to cover then having to wait for your suit to recharge got annoying, not to mention being in the middle of a fire fight and when it all goes tits up, you can't even run away because you're out of energy.

I'd prefer to see them go back to the first Crysis' system though. Have walk, regular sprint and maximum speed, with the latter using energy. Made for some interesting tactics. Running as quickly as possible into an enemy and knocking him over, then throwing him in the sea with all the chickens and turtles you'd thrown in earlier.

Bring back Maximum Speed!!
Candy1  +   277d ago
If only the same wizardry could make petrol as economic.
Soldierone  +   277d ago
Honestly hate sprint that runs out, its just annoying. "get to the complete other side of the map" me "okay! presses sprint button 20 times to get 20 feet" how fun.

It's different if the normal run is pretty fast (battlefield has a good mix) but Crysis made it feel like a snail crawl in comparison....
frankboy2012  +   277d ago
If you dont sort out the horrible lag and hit detection then you can kiss my bollocks EA/CRYTEK crysis 2 multiplayers lag and hit detection is a joke i hope you do a better job on crysis 3 or else its a no buy from me :)
nutcrackr  +   277d ago
speed mode -> sprinting uses energy -> infinite running

They should have kept speed mode and had normal movement speed, infinite run speed (standard human run) and very fast speed mode run with suit power drain.
kasasensei  +   277d ago
So it's going to be more casual than crysis2?
crysis1 had the perfect settings for nano suit use!
what the next step? autorun+autocloak+autoforce? disgusting how they ruin great games with those casuals settings...

john2  +   277d ago
Just to be clear, they are removing the automatic speed mode that was introduced in Crysis 2 and ruined everything. My guess is that there will be a separate speed mode (or no speed mode at all). About the cloak mode, this mode is forced in the Hunter MP mode (the Hunters are always cloaked and that's the purpose of the game). In SP and in other modes the nanosuit will most probably fuction the same way it did in previous games (meaning that if you shoot while in stealth mode, you'll eat up its energy). Seriously, this is a good step for gamers

Thank GAWD!!
I wish more devs would drop that antiquated crap.
9 times out of 10 you are playing some elite super soldier bad@ss type guy but I can only run for ten feet before I poop out?
Watch any military type documentary on elite soldiers, those guys can run for days.
InTheLab  +   277d ago
Pretty sure they got rid of super speed mode from Crysis 1 because crysis 2 was filled with cramped maps and there was no reason for it.

The fact that super speed mode, apparently won't be returning tells me Crysis 3 might have to wait till the summer drought for a purchase...
Plagasx  +   277d ago
Wait, so there is going to be a mode for really fast sprint??

because if your running regular and not using the suit energy then what will be using the suits energy??

I hope they make the jumping travel further too. It was frustrating that this super suit guy could jump super high but not forward enough to make it over a street.

Yay!!! and now this makes a game to be good...wait? or not? :)
