Every Xbox One Owner Should Consider Buying a PS3

Hardcore Gamer: Those bored with the current Xbox One offerings are left with little to tide them over until the Fall software boom comes. Xbox One owners need some novel experiences over the summer. Fortunately, there is one out-of-the-box solution to the Xbox One’s software problem: Buying a PlayStation 3 and working your way through its extensive exclusive catalog.

scratch that every 'gamer' should buy a ps3.

@mikelarry,yes they set a good price.

@xinaratuuzumaki, yea there exclusives are incredible.

Mikelarry3581d ago

Agreed, there are just too many games to pass up on that system especially now that the price they are going for

Naga3581d ago

The premise of the author's reasoning seems to be that Xbox One owners are bored with current offerings... I'm curious where he gets that impression, because every XB1 owner I know is still very much entertained by what's available.

darthv723581d ago

This same thing could be said about pretty much any platform.

if you are bored with the wii, get a ps3/360
if you are bored with the 360, get a ps3
if you are bored with a ps3, get a 360
if you are bored with a ps4, get a saturn
if you are bored with a saturn, get a gamecube

the list goes on and on until you have so many systems and games you dont know what you want to play and then you end up not playing any of them.

have you ever been faced with so many choices that you dont make one and just do something else? it happens.

Ultra3581d ago

The word 'every' in the opinion piece is too generic.

Should all those X1 owners who have had played PS3 in the past also consider re-buying it for the exclusives and lower price tag? Is it mandatory that gamers must spend more money for Sony than M$?

tbone5673581d ago

No thanks. 360 is better than the PS3.

ZodTheRipper3580d ago

^Seriously? You never owned a PS3, it's library is by far superior to the X360. The best games of last gen were PS3 exclusives, TLOU, Demon's Souls, Journey or God Of War 3 to mention a few.

The PS3 is an amazing console. it is by far my most favorite Sony console of all time.

It had a rough start, but it ultimately outsold the 360. And, it has the best collection of exclusive of all, most of which are critically acclaimed exclusives and GOTYs.

XiSasukeUchiha3581d ago

Agreed Naruto, PS3 is a console that every 1 owner should buy.

superherox73581d ago

Dude why do you talk to yourself and comment first? Are you mentally ill?

Dontworrybhappy3581d ago (Edited 3581d ago )

I got the PS4 for one reason and one reason alone, TLOU. It is the first game that made me want a Playstation since the days of when I had a PS2. Halo completely swept me off my feet from 2004 til present and beyond! But TLOU looks too dope to pass up! So NOW I have every newer platform besides PS3, WiiU, and unfortunately no PC :( Also have a 3DS and a Nintendo 64 that won't seem to die. :D BTW Resogun and Killer Instinct are the BEST games on PS4 and Xbox 1

Ihatetrolls763581d ago

I had a ps3 wasn't that great to be honest and getting online downloading updates was just a pain majority of the time uncharted was a good game but waaaaaaaaaay over rated god of war was fun and liked twisted metal. I might buy one used latter. I'm considering a ps4 because I think the order may be a great game and it has me considering a purchase

mmc-0073580d ago

just like i find halo way over rated but some how that's not allowed to be said

Magicite3580d ago

PS3 is best console right now, hands down. Best games library, best price/value and more must-have exclusives coming soon (ex. Persona 5).
Thats the reason I dont buy PS4 yet, because PS3 keeps me busy.

JBSleek3581d ago

I respectfully disagree. If you waited this long only using an Xbox One I'm sure you can wait till September when two great games are coming out with Destiny and Forza Horizon 2.

JBSleek3581d ago

I personally wouldn't buy eight year old hardware. Especially when I have a PC in which the library of games are massive and have a huge back catalog of games.

But to each their own just my opinion on the subject matter.

MonstaTruk3581d ago

@JBSleek

I disagree also, for different reasons. If I had an Xbox One, and was feeling gaming woes, then instead of paying an extra $200 for a PS3 on top of the $400-$500 for the Xbox One, I'd just trade that in and get a PS4. You'd have access to 8th gen games still (albeit slightly better graphics), & you can jump on the PS Now, with a 100+ game library for PS3 at launch. Game prices will improve (hopefully a subscription system), plus the PS3 library will increase, as well as eventual plans for PS1 & PS2 games. Sounds like best of ALL worlds, to me...

JBSleek3581d ago

Why would you get rid of an entire system because summer games are weak. As they always are.

As if PS4 doesn't have the same problem you essential just wasted money to get back to square one if we are following the articles premise.

PS Now prices are pretty overpriced and is really aimed at people without a PlayStation 4 so I wouldn't partake in such a program. Gamefly is a better deal.

I would choose a PS3 over trading in an Xbox One and getting a PS4 to be stuck in the same problem.

MonstaTruk3581d ago (Edited 3581d ago )

@JBSleek

Wait...what?

You do know that 97% of all games between Xbox One & PS4 will be shared, right? With PROBABLY better graphics for those 97% multiplats on PS4. But with YOUR rationale, you're saying you'd rather pay $700 plus PS3 games instead of $400, shared, improved, multiplats, & access to PS3 games also (and PS1 & PS2 later), is that right? Why would you CHOOSE to pay $300+ more dollars for your option? For...more Forza & Halo? That's...you? :-/

JBSleek3581d ago

Well your changing the entire premise of the article. It was about keeping an Xbox One as a constant but in your scenario you got rid of the Xbox One.

Well why would you do that. You clearly bought it for the exclusive games. If you wanted to play superior multiplatform games you would own a PC.

Also in your agreement you aren't paying only $400 for a PS4 because you said you already bought an Xbox One assuming it's the $500 and you traded for a PS4 so you end up spending the same money.

Quote from you " If I had an Xbox One, and was feeling gaming woes, then instead of paying an extra $200 for a PS3 on top of the $400-$500 for the Xbox One, I'd just trade that in and get a PS4"

Therefore you already had an Xbox One and traded it for a PS4 which isn't an even trade so you ended up paying for a PS4 as well be that less money but still.

Dontworrybhappy3581d ago

Really? Getting down voted for an opinion?!

CJQNSNYC3581d ago (Edited 3581d ago )

LOL! This site seems to exist to push Sony products as hard as they can....period! Even to the point of attacking PC and all things Microsoft. Anyone who doesn't think PS everything equals GOD is seen as out of step on this site.

Why not suggest trying something new, whichever platform you choose?

Ezz20133581d ago

yes people can DISAGREE with that opinion
it's opinion after all

TheRedButterfly3581d ago

Roommate's got his ancient fatty, so I'll be using that for my Miku and Persona gaming. :)

hkgamer3581d ago

what if they already own a ps3 and not have a 360?

this article should be, anyone who doesnt own a current gen system maybe try buy a last gen system you never owned.

MonstaTruk3581d ago

I guess they were trying to imply that if you had to go back to 7th gen gaming, that PS3 would be the best choice. Which, if lifetime sales were any indication (still won the gen after starting a year behind the 360), a lot of other gamers believe that also. So does this guy... ;-)

JBSleek3581d ago

So are you going to pretend that Wii never existed because it won last generation.

And no... Don't say Wii wasn't competing with PS3 and Xbox 360 due to being lower powered... Generations are defined by time periods not power.

hkgamer3581d ago

i think the article was more about play the games you missed last gen.

i just think most people presume lots of 360 owners moved onto ps4. that is true, however know one thought about ps3 owners moved onto the xbone.

mediate-this3580d ago (Edited 3580d ago )

Won the gen by a super small margin, like two million if that. You fanboys draw the weakest straws. They are neck and neck, ps3 did not blow 360 out of the water, so stop with the crazy exaggeration.

tommygunzII3580d ago

Even PS3 owners still have a mountain of games to play. That's really the point of the article, the vast selection of great games that many missed out on.

hkgamer3580d ago

then how bout ps4 owners not owning a ps3?

shouldnt the author just say, go out and buy a ps3?

Not for me, I'm 100% physical media all of the time.

jwillj2k417h ago

I hate that I have to keep calling this out, but your physical disks mean nothing if the game code attempts to connect to a server prior to playing.

Hugodastrevas17h ago

And that happens when? I'm playing completely offline here, stellar Blade to be more precise.
I'm sorry but I've never run into that imaginary problem you're talking about, I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it has never happened to me.

jwillj2k417h ago

You not running into the problem yet has no bearing on my argument. You’re acting like the medium is the shield for you being able to always play your games when it effectively is not. The game code itself can try to connect to a server or the console you’re playing on may receive an update that requires that game to connect to a server. Just because you haven’t ran into it doesn’t mean anything lol you don’t own your games no matter how you try.

Hugodastrevas16h ago

So I have never run into the problem you're talking about and your answer is an hypothetical? Look I can play any game of my library offline right now without issue.
That issue is in your mouth and alone.

Crows9012h ago

Actually...there's an easy way...don't connect. If it doesn't require a connection and you don't connect...the code can't update...obviously....confused why you don't get what he's saying.

outsider162411h ago

Hold on..lets say i dnt have an online connection, can i atleast play the game offline though. Was thinking of getting this

jwillj2k46h ago

None of you use your brains.

OK, let’s explore this playing offline. not talking about Diablo specifically just gaming in general.

Are you going to buy two PlayStations? One offline one online? If not, moment you want to play something that requires a connection you’re cooked.

Does game experience you love so much stay the same offline?

Is the game even playable offline?

The whole point of my argument is that we don’t hold the keys anymore. The gatekeepers are the developers and console makers regardless of whether it’s digital or physical. You altering your play style for a lesser experience is not a workaround, it doesn’t solve the overall problem.

None of this matters since the move to the cloud is inevitable.

spicelicka20h ago

So you have to buy the game and can only stream to the PS5 devices using PS plus premium? What is the point of that. Much more useful when you can stream to other devices.

MrNinosan20h ago

Works great on my Portal while at work 👍

spicelicka18h ago

That's streaming off your PS5, not from the cloud. This is specifically referring to cloud gaming.

CrimsonWing6920h ago

Can’t you, uh, do this on your phone?

Tacoboto19h ago

Sony doesn't yet have a web or app-based solution to stream games off their cloud service, the closest you may be able to get would be Remote Play if they allow cloud streaming during a Remote session.

And yes this applies to the Portal too.

Einhander197226m ago(Edited 25m ago)

Tacoboto

Please stop talking about PlayStation Streaming, you don't know what you're talking about.

I just explained this to you the other day where you were telling people that remote play was their only cloud solution, because apparently you didn't understand how PlayStation Premium works even though PS Now was a thing since shortly after the launch PS4..

You can stream to PC and Mac, and they had mobile clients for it in the past but probably for the same reason Microsoft is fighting Apple and Google PS Now wasn't allowed on App stores. Which is why it's not on iPhone and Android still.

And to be honest, I am glad they are trying to keep it on the console, all their moves away from the console seem like a step in the wrong direction, which isn't working so great for Microsoft...

anast19h ago

Blizzard is shoving this game everywhere. Diablo 4 is going to take an even bigger hit soon. Path of exile 2 is coming out and it looks insane.

Crows9012h ago

Well they're about to release the next season...I think that might be way they're pushing the game again.

UnbreakableAlex18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

I completed it on gamepass. Thanks God I dint pay it full price. It plays like a lazy mobile game. I am not a pro diablo gamer (Diablo 1 was the only one I completed) but D4 has no atmosphere, no creepy feeling and soundtrack like the first one and its so easy, I managed to not buy any weapon and had 4 Million Credits on level 55. I always used the same 4 attacks from the beginning and died maybe 10-15 times. It's so easy, wtf. I remember D1 to be pretty hard.
WTF happened? Is Diablo 3 also that bad?

jwillj2k417h ago

Diablo 3 was my first Diablo game. I had to use the mailbox cheats to keep it interesting.

Crows9012h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Diablo 3 was really hard at launch....then they made it easy.

They love scaling difficulty though.

GrmpyolGamer 9h ago

Considering that the PS cloud steaming is garbage compared to XCloud and is limited to certain devices this isn't something to brag about. Wake me up when Diablo is on PS plus

PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher

With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?

thorstein16d ago

No, and they already solved any need with the overlay that's coming.

Vits16d ago

Unless they are trying to kill their recently created PC business, I would advise against opening a dedicated PC store. It's an extremely hard endeavor, and people, in general, are very comfortable with Steam. Even Epic, with their billions of dollars invested, is still struggling to find a foothold, and they have Fortnite.

just_looken15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Money is one thing security is another but again millions have 0 knowledge past 2020.

Epic store for years struggled with a shopping cart/account theft/credit card theft

Rockstar launcher/store to this day over 5 years later still has horrific user interface security flaws lost account's and stolen CC

Then you got that activision need phone number oh we lost it launcher

The crown jewel is the ea launcher/store ea app 3 yrs old still has hundreds of threads were people lost games/accounts/game access or just straight up crashes.

Edit" Oh ubi launcher were you buy a game that may or may not be there again or work and the launcher 5yrs old still has no 4K support if you launch it on a 4k screen there is a high chance it will just crash.

ocelot0716d ago

Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming.

It's just a known fact. The PC gaming community prefer Steam and Steam alone. They don't like different launchers. I personally don't mind them. But majority just stick with steam. Hence why EA and Ubisoft went back to on releasing on steam and why Microsoft release games on steam as people hated buying from the windows store.

The only other launchers that I imagine are doing ok is GOG due to being drm free and epic games due to the free games every week. Sony shouldn't release any sort of pc launcher n

Nitrowolf216d ago (Edited 16d ago )

It literally says in the OP that PC gamers don't like multiple launchers lol. It even mentions Steam being the go to for gamers

Tacoboto15d ago

Title: "PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher"

N4G: "Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming"

When you don't even read the headline...

ocelot0715d ago

I read it and had a brain fart. As read the title then this "With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?"

So I hold my hands up on that mistake. Rest of my comment still stands.

Giblet_Head15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

Steam and GOG are highly preferred because of the rich feature set. Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, Epic etc have all set a precedent over the years for customers to instinctively expect individual publisher launchers to be so extremely half-assed that the majority simply don't want to bother dealing with what is almost an inevitable disappointment by comparison to Steam or GOG. Those publishers and their inaction or general disinterest to improve have effectively ruined any future adoption to be taken seriously.

Einhander197216d ago (Edited 16d ago )

This is just another ridiculous double standard article.

It's like how Microsoft can spend 20 years of making nothing but gaas and live service style games to sell microtransactions, dlc and subscriptions and get praise for doing it, but if Sony wants to make a single game like that every website under the sun is writing articles saying how Sony is anti-consumer or whatever.

derek15d ago

Yep, huge double standard look at the tortured reaction to the ps5pro, websites hyperventilating like Sony is forcing people to buy it.

just_looken15d ago

Wait my xbox from 2004 has avengers gaas on it? wow your so smart

m$ Gaas started with the other companies like sony

Gamepass yes they are deep into that but its still a huge money saver sense you do not own your games then get a service like that.

Now there pc xbox launcher that is trash for years now

Well, I mean the driving physics hold up. The draw distance, police AI, visuals in general etc do not

Cacabunga23d ago

One of my all time favorites on PS1. I spent a summer vacation playing this was so good

isarai23d ago

Sadly youd be hard pressed to find any driving game with better physics these days. But the draw distance really kills it for me

PrimeVinister23d ago

The physics hold up ridiculously well. And the draw distance is a real hurdle at first.

__y2jb23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Nonsense. The physics in any modern game or any 360 game is light years beyond Driver.
